One-on-one lessons for bass guitar: a methodical approach to learn how to play the most popular styles such as jazz, pop, rock and funk.

The course is structured in a way that lets the students choose what they want to learn, freeing them up to explore their potential while also preparing them for today's musical demands. The students will be coached on any of the following topics:

If possible the student should have his/her own bass and amplifier, but these are not a necessity.

Hello!

I am an electric and upright bass player from Malta and I have spent the last 8 years playing music in different styles and situations. Collecting experiences directly from the bandstand has taught me a lot about the demands of the modern bass player, which is why I decided to create this course.

My teaching practice draws a lot from my personal experience as a student. I have had lots of lessons with tutors with proven track records and methods, but the fun part of studying music for me was always to find my own way of learning something, which is to teach it to myself. This led to a direct awareness of the processes that go into learning and it helped me to come up with step-by-step methods that go through each phase of the learning process in a systematic way.

It is my belief that the learning requirements for the aspiring A-list session musician are very different from those of the bassist who simply wants to meet up and jam with friends, and so it follows that the student should try have an idea of what he or she would like to get out of these lessons. I encourage the student to talk about these learning goals at the very start of the course in order to set a direction for the lessons. If, however, the student lacks a clear idea of what they want to learn, this is no problem at all, and we can adjust and tailor the lessons to one's needs as we go along.

Learning Music Theory with the Help of Popular Songs

By analyzing and deconstructing songs from a chosen repertoire, the student will gather an understanding of how functional western harmony works and will be able to apply this method on their own, which in turn will speed up the process of learning how to play songs. With over 8 years of experience as a Solfege, Oriental Solfege, Oud, and Oriental singing teacher, I am a Lebanese musician currently residing in Mönchengladbach, Germany. I honed my skills for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. Prior to my relocation, I taught at Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and also held private music lessons. As a concertmaster, I performed with the oriental orchestra "Loubnan Assalam" for over 5 years.

Solfege, the foundation of music theory, is an essential tool for any musician who wishes to understand and create music. It provides a way to identify and communicate notes, intervals, and rhythms, and it is the key to developing musical literacy.

In this class, you will delve into the world of scales, exploring the unique characteristics of Western and Oriental scales. We will study the following scales:

Rast, Bayet, Siga, Kord, Hijaz, Ajam, Nahawand- Major & Minor Scales. In addition to these Western and Oriental scales, we will also introduce you to the quarter note, which is not traditionally found in Western music. It is a quarter note with a unique and distinct sound.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, this class will provide you with the knowledge you need to use scales effectively for improvisation, singing, and playing any instrument.

With this knowledge, you will be able to:

* Read and write music (dictation) in solfège notation for both Western and Oriental scales.

Experienced teacher of Oud and oriental Arabic singing for over 11 years, I am Lebanese and currently residing in Germany. I studied for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. I taught at the Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and gave private lessons. In addition, I was conductor of the Loubnan Assalam oriental orchestra for over 5 years.

My recommendation for learning the Oud is to start with the study of notes and musical notation before tackling pieces. Although some students prefer to play songs directly, understanding the basics of musical notation allows for faster progress in the long run. With determination and hard work, significant progress can be made in a year, allowing one to play simple melodies.

لو حاولت تتعلم موسيقى قبل كده وما كملتش، فغالبًا المشكلة مكانتش فيك... كانت في الطريقة، لأن أغلب الطرق بتعتمد على الحفظ أو التقليد بدون فهم، وده بيخلي أي حد يقف بعد فترة ومش عارف يكمل. هنا الفكرة مختلفة، أنت مش بتتعلم تعزف وبس، أنت بتفهم كل خطوة بتعملها من البداية علشان تقدر تعتمد على نفسك وتتطور بشكل حقيقي.

الرحلة بتبدأ من تأسيس مضبوط ومدروس، مش مجرد تمارين عشوائية، وده بيشمل:

وضعية جسم صحيحة تساعدك تعزف براحة وتمنع أي إجهاد أو ألم مع الوقت
التعامل مع الآلة بشكل سليم من أول حصة علشان تتجنب الأخطاء الشائعة
توازن بين اليدين بشكل تدريجي يخليك تتحكم في الأداء بثبات
التحكم في حركة القوس بطريقة منظمة تخلي الصوت ثابت وواضح
إخراج صوت نقي بدون شد أو توتر، وده أساس أي عزف احترافي

مفيش أسلوب واحد ينفع لكل الناس، علشان كده كل طالب بيتم التعامل معاه حسب مستواه وسرعته وهدفه، سواء:
مبتدئ وعايز يبدأ من الصفر بطريقة صحيحة
أو عنده أساس وعايز يقويه
أو بيعزف بس حاسس إن في ضعف في بعض النقاط
