Dutch for non-native speakers and primary school students

Each class is tailored to the individual's requirements and/or needs. Want to improve career opportunities; learn or improve business Dutch, which will be the focus of each class. For those already are familiar with Dutch; expanding existing knowledge together with a deeper cultural understanding and insight. All students will be provided lesson schedules in advance for their review (time permitting). As a former primary school teacher and experienced Dutch teacher for adults and children, I enjoy helping others achieve their language goals. Together we will make a plan that fits your personal needs, whether they include exam preparation (Inburgering/Staatsexamen), being able to confidently hold (informal or formal) conversations with friends and coworkers, understanding grammar rules, being able to watch Dutch TV or anything else: I will help you get there! The lessons can be held online or on location in Amsterdam (and the surrounding area).

I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.

In our class we will be relaxed, I will help you with the Dutch conversation, the grammar, reading (like an article or a topic what I will give you). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. Prepare in an efficient, intensive way for the ITNA (Interuniversity Language Test Dutch), based on tailor-made exercises. We practice together on language in use, grammar and vocabulary, gap texts, structuring exercises, dictation, presentations and argumentation. With advanced students we discuss the news based on newspaper articles. I speak fluent French, English, and Italian. I am a lawyer by training with 30 years of experience in international business. The ultimate goal of my lessons: to love Dutch and prepare for your future!

First of all, I think it is important that we have fun while learning. After all, that makes learning much more fun! In the lessons I am happy to help you with your grammatical questions about Dutch. We can also work on your speaking, writing and/or listening skills. Do you want help with your homework assignments? This is certainly possible!
