Spanish, and English as a second language tutor (test prep available)

I am Laura , a Spanish woman living in The Hague. I have been teaching and helping high school students with their homework and study methods since 2014 as a private tutor. I have experience as a language teacher in different schools in Madrid (extracurricular activities) for children between 3 and 10 years old. I work as a Spanish teacher since 2019 in various countries, helping numerous students to improve their speaking, listening and writing skills. I studied Nutrition and Dietetics (4 years bachelor)at Complutense University of Madrid and Linguistics in Leiden University. Depending on the goal, the learning or lesson method is different. Normally, the first day I meet the student and we talk about what he or she expects and the topics we need to pay more attention. From that, I organise and structure a learning plan for reaching the desired goals (listening, speaking, writing, etc) or level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).

I specialize in teaching both English and maths and economics for all ages, I have worked with children from the age of five for tutoring. I plan each tutorial individually based on every student's learning goals and can be adapted at any stage for better performance.

English is an important language to learn in today's world or just to add another skill to your life. In my English classes we will set up a custom plan for your language learning needs. We can focus on speaking, reading, writing, listening, or all of the above. I am very flexible in my lessons to cater towards your needs. Classes will consist of conversation, practice exercises, language games, and listening exercises.

I grew up in New Zealand and lived there for 6 years. Additionally, I received a one-year scholarship to study in the USA, which means I speak English as good as a native speaker. I have taken English classes in primary, middle, and high school. I have also taken English Literature classes and Presentation Speaking classes in English. During my final year of high school, taking the International Baccalaureate Program and English B at Higher Level, I received a 7 (highest grade) on my final oral exam and a 7 on my final written exam. I am able to tutor in holding conversations, meaning learning through having discussions with a native speaker. I may also teach literature, the analysis of texts, prepare for exams such as International Baccalaureate, SAT, or basic standardized testing. I believe English is the international language of the world and is a basic tool of the 21st century. However, at times, it may seem complex. I believe teaching through having discussions is the best way to learn. I would prepare structured classes that would enable you to learn effectively and repeat the previously acquired knowledge in order to memorize it and successfully become more fluent and comfortable in the language. I am a professional English teacher with over 8 years experience in various teaching roles. I have experience of teaching all ages from 3 up to 65+ in group classes or 1-on-1. Specific purpose teaching such as public speaking or business English also taught. I will always make the class exciting, fun and full of laughter. I think people learn better when they are engaged and enjoying themselves. I have a wide variety of teaching materials too as I currently teach online to Chinese schoolchildren for some hours of the day. I am incredibly flexible and will have a conversation with you before the class to see what learning environment will work best for you or your child. Homework can be set too. I have just come back to Europe after spending 3 years in South Korea as a teacher to children aged 5 - 18. In this lesson I aim to help students with their conversational skills. If you’re looking to improve your Spanish, you have an exam or are travelling abroad, this could be a good option. My system consists in: 1. objective definition 2. Execution through in class practice 3. Feedback 4. Study/review by the student And repeat. By knowing your goals; weak points for improvement, the class can be oriented in that direction. If you still don’t know your goals (for example: practicing shopping conversation, or improving use of grammar), the class will provide with the observations and feedback needed to improve your level of Spanish.

I have lived and studied abroad, so I am familiar to the system and level of foreign French schools I propose to teach and help your children progress in any subject from the French school. I'm a native of Spanish and English and proficient in Mandarin Chinese (HSK6). I completed my Chinese studies in 2019 in Harbin, China. I have been working as a Spanish, English, and Mandarin Chinese tutor online for two years and work at the Confucius Institute of the Dominican Republic as a mandarin tutor throughout 2019-2020. Over the last year, I have had over 250 students from all over the world and 1000 lessons. More than 100 out of 250 students are kids aged 5-15. For the kids, I will always prepare some extra material, and having a parent during the first lesson is always recommended ;) My main aim is to make you feel comfortable during our lessons, create a comfortable setting for you, and modify the class to your liking. I can teach in all three languages, so I'll make sure communication is excellent between us all the time!
