This course is an introduction to contemporary music theory. It covers music theory from a practical approach, aiming to provide contemporary musicians with the necessary theory knowledge to communicate effectively within an ensemble situation, as well as develop their individual skills as music practitioners. Each class focuses on a particular element of music theory. After the initial explanation, practical application is explored, giving the students the opportunity to test their knowledge, and clear any doubts.

My name is Daniel and I ́m a professional pianist.

I have a Degree in Music in Piano Performance by the Royal Academy of Music of Madrid and I was awarded a scholarship to pursue my Masters Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, starting September 2015.

I have extensive teaching experience as I ́ve worked in two music academies to pay for my studies, I ́ve worked in Ibiza as a private piano teacher and au pair and I ́ve been giving private lessons for nine years now (all levels and ages).

I am an italian piano teacher with many years of experience. I encourage music study not only for performance success, but also for personal development. I can teach both classical piano or modern (jazz/rock/pop) piano. I really enjoy sharing music knowledge with my students, I love working with very young children and with old beginners as well. I am a very patient and approachable piano teacher and always study music pedagogy to be a better teacher.

BIO:
Silvio, born in 1986, is a pianist, composer and educator originally from Italy. He began studying classical piano at the age of eleven and went on to major in piano at the Conservatory of Lecce, graduating with full marks in 2005. After falling in love with jazz and improvisation when he was nineteen, he attended Lecce State Conservatory on a full jazz scholarship in 2011.
Silvio specializes in many styles of piano and has received numerous prizes at national piano competitions.
In addition to being a musician, Silvio has expertise in business. He graduated with first class honours (110/110 cum laude) in Economics and Finance from the University of Salento in 2013.
His album “Flowing” is the result of a prize in the music competition "Giuseppe Tricarico" (May 2016 - Gallipoli, Italy) which he won and which allowed him to produce this record. It was released in December 2018.
In September 2018 Silvio had the chance to lead workshops about jazz music in Santo Domingo at Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, National Conservatory of Music and Academia de Música de Patricia Logroño.
In June 2019 he was one of the Top Prize winners at the International Online Quebec Music Competition (Montreal, Canada), where he played his own composition called “Latin Jazz Etude – Una Noche en el Barrio”, and in July 2019 he won the First Place at the San Francisco International Innovative Music Competition (Summer Edition).
Since December 2018 he has been collaborating as sheet music arranger with a US-based website, the world's leading digital sheet music retailer.
Silvio is also a music teacher with many years of experience, whose students range in age from 5 to 60 plus. He encourages music study not only for performance success, but also for personal development. In 2019 he attended music pedadogy courses at the Conservatory of Lecce.
Since 2014 he‘s been the vicepresident of the Music School and Association “Oda – Officina Degli Artisti” (Taurisano, Italy).

I have 15 years of experience both onstage and inside studios that allow me to provide well-rounded techniques to achieve musicality and interpretation in singing as well as music theory applied to sing or separately.
I also have Music and Singing certificates (honors both) from West London University.

As a pianist, musicologist and composer, I am passionate about music and I tend to cover the maximum amount of subjects inside music in my lessons. I don’t only teach how to play piano, but I explain, in the most suitable way for my students, how music works, the theory of music, how to create music and your own songs, where do concepts come from, the relationship between intervals and harmonies, etc.
I love asking my students which are their favourite activities and their favourite pieces of music so we can learn them together or arrange them together. I’m always open to teach other instruments to my students or to sing. My music lessons are about having fun while learning.

This course covers the basics of the instrument and utilisation of music theory fundamentals. Learners will study the basics of playing guitar at a beginning level through studying music scales, chord symbols, and common guitar practice. A concise history of the electric guitar along with a study of its corresponding musical techniques will also be included in this course.

The main objective of this course is to produce an intensified appreciation for music by playing the guitar. Students will learn how to read music notation, chord symbols, and tablature. Students will also gain a better understanding of many different musical genres including pop, punk, blues, jazz, rock, and other popular music styles.

I have instructed students of different age groups in saxophone performance and music theory (including counterpoint, harmony and composition) up until university level, in Spain and the UK. After graduating from Cambridge with a double starred first, taking into consideration my academic results and teaching experience, I have also been selected for inclusion in the Supervisor Registry to teach counterpoint and harmony papers. My approach to lessons is very flexible, and I always try to adapt to the needs and qualities of each student. I believe that communication is essential, and at the beginning of each lesson I ask my students if they found my recommendations from the previous lesson helpful and how they see their progress. After this spoken introduction, we proceed to work on some warm-up and technical exercises. Then, we play some studies and pieces, or go over some music theory exercises, trying to apply the advice from the previous lesson and make further improvements. Finally, we conclude the lesson with a summary, listing the main key points and suggestions and comparing our experience to the previous lessons, trying to find a clear sense of progression and a coherent line of work towards a certain goal. This teleological mindset occupies a central position in my methodology, and I always encourage my students to look ahead and plan a series of stimulating events or challenges to look foward to, such as a concert, a recital, a presentation or an exam.

Nothing is more important for making music that understanding how music works.
From the basics of tempo to sheet music analisys, we will open up the nature of music composition and it's effect on people, as well as learning basic guitar or piano if that is your wish.
I believe it is important to learn music from someone that has true passion for it, someone that would pass it's personal knowledge onto it's student.

Two keywords form the base of the singing technique I teach: relaxation and engagement. Inspired by the Alexander technique, we need the body to be completely free from any muscle tension before and after producing a sound. Then, to create a sound of quality, the body also needs to be engaged and free. By releasing all the unnecessary tension, you will be able to sing all the arias of your dreams. I will give some weekly exercises in singing and music theory and we will correct them together during the lesson.
I was part of the choir of the French public radio broadcaster for 7 years. I have a diploma in Music theory from the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt. I even have a degree in Pop music and I am currently finishing my Master's in musical theatre and composition.
My lessons are for all ages, all levels, and all voices. I specialised in the voice of Countertenor.

A flexible, fun and interactive approach to learning to play guitar and understand the theory behind to not only know how to play, but to enjoy making music using your own taste and ideas.
