Private lessons in Latin - Greek - ancient culture - Hebrew

Translated by Google. Click to view original.
If you want to learn the secrets of French, its complicated spelling, its sometimes obscure grammar, the history of its vocabulary ... do Latin (and Greek!)!

Moreover, a Latin course is compulsory at the University when studying Romanesque diapers (French, Italian, Spanish, etc.), ancient history and archeology.

At the same time, you will discover the foundations of our civilization which has deep roots in Antiquity.

I taught Latin and Greek in secondary 1 (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.) and 2 in the cantons of Vaud and Geneva: I can help prepare for exams.

Non-academic Latin lessons. Multilingual teacher with 9 years of experience. Pronunciation, historical linguistics, conceptual semantics.
Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. In the context of a first course, you can get a well-founded idea of my pedagogy. I look forward to meeting you.

Latin for GCSE and for fun, any ages above 13 can attend.
Latin, although technically a 'dead language' is still very usual to know nowadays. If you like learning new languages and the history behind them, this class is for you. Be prepared to learn lots of vocab, a bit of grammar and enjoy learning. If you are already taking Latin for GCSE and are struggling or just want some extra support this is also for you. I am a current A Level Latin student, who also takes Classics and Maths, student- predicted A* for Latin and Classics and I achieved a grade 9 (A*) for my Latin GCSE. I am capable of teaching both the Cambridge Latin Course and the John Taylor, 'Latin to GCSE' textbook so I can help tutor to your preference if you have one. I enjoy tutoring and already have some experience, so please attend if you are eager to learn something new and unconventional.

This class will provide you with personalised tuition and support to prepare you for taking Latin GCSE, with the ability to cover any exam board, set text, or paper. I believe that tutoring should be a dialogue between the pupil and tutor, tailored to the former's needs in order to help them achieve their maximum potential. My experience in Learning Support means that I have a heightened awareness of the different barriers to learning that students may experience, and how best to empower the students to overcome them. Greek rehearsals for the first/second grades of middle school
The first years of Greek in college are often complicated. Despite its beauty, the Greek language is a real grammatical martyr if you do not base your learning on solid foundations. I am therefore here to explain to you the concepts that you struggle to grasp as well as some basics of civilization, always linked to the text.

Paulo

Abdoul Kader
Support courses in French and Latin - Middle and high school
Experienced teacher and chalk in hand, offers coaching (online or at home) taking into account the learner's level and adopting the most appropriate method for adequate monitoring. Online, the sessions will be recorded and the video will be available to the listener (for their revisions). Students in exam classes will find, through various supports, the resources to upgrade and tackle the tests with more confidence, and the certainty of a positive result. The difficulties linked to analysis (grammatical and logical), the methodology of exam tests (dissertation, summary, commentary), the understanding of texts, genres and literary trends will no longer be a secret or a pitfall to success. For those preparing for a competitive exam, more in-depth training to achieve the required performance will be offered. Beginner or advanced Latinists will be able to master the subtleties of Latin morphology, syntax and conjugation. They will be able to read and understand texts, acquire vocabulary, know the history of Roman civilization. For non-Latinists wishing to acquire knowledge of Latin, this course will provide a good introduction to this classical language. They will read, understand simple to complex structures, access texts independently to increase their general knowledge or the needs of their activity. For English-speaking or Arabic-speaking adults who need to study the French language, this course will allow them to communicate in French to be independent in daily exchanges.

Learn (modern) Greek for everyday use, university, tourism with FUN and passion / (ancient) Greek for school and university
I am a native speaker of Greek. I graduated from a Greek high school and, later, the University of Athens where I attended courses in pedagogics, psychology, and linguistics. During our lessons, I'll help you develop your skills (oral/written, and not only). I'll also try to help you improve your pronunciation and spelling. I assign homework and after I receive it, correct it thoroughly additionally providing a lot of remarks/examples if they are necessary. I worked at a language center between 2009-2016 where I was a director of studies and taught mainly English as a foreign/second language. Since 2005, when I first started teaching Greek, I have taught children and adults on a variety of language proficiency levels, mainly individually. I constantly seek progress, meaning that I study further through reading books/articles concerning didactics/methodology and learning difficulties (chiefly dyslexia), observing other teachers as well as attending seminars (online or face-to-face). During my lessons I use : - Skype/Whatsapp/Messenger to connect with you, - Google Docs to keep notes, which you can check at any time and they are yours to keep, - sketch board me to make mind maps to show connections between ideas, etc. - books, PPP, word docs, diagrams, pics, etc. - pronunciation/spelling/grammar games, - authentic materials were taken from websites. I adore my profession and desire each and every one of my students be satisfied with the lesson. That's why I make sure the atmosphere is stress-free and nice. I also want my lessons to be as effective and close to real-life needs as possible. Therefore, I make sure they are well-prepared, although they can be altered at any point, should such an opportunity arise. I like explaining things in a variety of ways as well as make use of dictionaries, diagrams, etc. When it comes to students who want to obtain certificates, I am very demanding. What can I teach? - I would love to help you improve/develop all language skills (speaking/writing-listening/reading + grammar/vocabulary/pronunciation), - I would love to help you prepare for state certificates such as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. - I would love to help you with homework and assignments (literature, history) from school and university (but please contact me about that IN ADVANCE). Regarding Ancient Greek, I can help you with commentaries/translations/grammar/syntax: - Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, - Homer, Aeschylus, Euripides, Sophocles, Sappho, - Herodotus, Thucydides, Xenophon.

Latin lessons for all levels (beginners, intermediates, advanced, higher education students)-ADULTS
Associate professor, Doctor of Letters (Paris IV Sorbonne), teaches Latin at all levels. This course is aimed at anyone wishing to learn or relearn the Latin language, progressively access literature, history, philosophy, ancient sciences, and approach Latin culture. It is also intended for any pupil or student wishing for support in this subject. Learning the Latin language presupposes a few solid bases of French grammar that we review of course if necessary, before installing Latin grammatical knowledge. Learning Latin develops the rigor and sense of translation.

Ian
Living Latin through Comprehensible Input (Contemporary and Medieval Latin)
You will learn Latin the way it was meant to be learned - through conversation! Medieval scholars and contemporary language researchers alike advocate the use of dialogues and comprehensible input for language acquisition, and it most certainly works! As opposed to the "memorise grammar rules and then babble them in front of the class" approach that was demonstrated by the infamous "Romanēs eunt domus" scene from Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", you will learn to feel the grammar, so that you will be able to use the different cases of Latin without even thinking about it, just like a native speaker! For this class we will be using the following books, depending on the learner's level: Hans Øreberg's "Lingua Latīna per sē Illustrāta" "Corderiī Colloquia" Erasmus Rask's "Colloquia Familiaria" John C. Traupman Conversational Latin for Oral Proficiency I will be the collocutor and I will answer the learner's questions and explain certain oddities solely in Latin (I will use a second language only when the situation calls for it) We will also engage in free-form conversations, discussions of the dialogues, of our life experiences etc so that the learner can apply what they learn to real-life situations and expand their vocabulary
