Solfège all levels / Musical Theory all levels admited

Translated using Google Translate. Click to view original.
[ENGLISH, SEE BELOW]

A music theory course for anyone who wants to start with a solid foundation in music, or for an already advanced musician who wants to go further. This course is also perfect for an academy or conservatory student who wishes to prepare for the music theory exam.

Despite the fact that this is a so-called theoretical course, everything that is seen will first be worked on in a musical context and experienced by the student in order to be assimilated. The theoretical explanations will follow from it by itself.

On the program (student's choice)

- Ear training (knowing how to rewrite melodies with one or more voices, chords, etc.)

- Note readings in one or more keys

- Rhythm readings, polyrhythmic work

- Encryption and recognition of agreements,

- Transposition.

This musical theory lesson suits to every level, from the one who wants to learn how to read music to the one who wants to know more about chords, transposition or polyrythms. This lesson is also perfect for a student who wants to prepare an examination.

In despite the fact I called these lesson "Musical theory", it is firstly about understanding the music. And that can only be possible by ... doing music. So be aware that we will be singing, playing chords, clapping rhythms, ... My purpose is that the student understand by himself first, then the theory will come naturally.

What we can do during a lesson (student can choose):

- Ear training (Learn to catch a melody of one or several voices and write it down by ear, recognizing chords, recognizing rhythms, ...)

- Rythmical work: learn to clap different rhythms in different time signatures. Also included polyrythms.

- Key reading, in one or several keys.

- Transposition (learn how to read a flute sheet while you're playing trumpet, ..)

About Me

Translated using Google Translate. Click to view original.
I have been passionate about saxophones ever since I saw and heard Lisa Simpson play on television.
So I started to learn the instrument before my hands were big enough to be able to hold it fully.

Since then, I have explored many musical universes, having a culture mainly oriented towards Jazz music and of course classical music, which I am currently studying at the Brussels Conservatory in a professional manner. I am interested in all musical styles without distinction, in order to take the best of each universe to transpose it into a music that I wish the most sincere and rich ... I work for example a lot on electronic music coupled with acoustic sounds, or French music projects with texts, through jazz fusion between two sessions of contemporary music. I try to mix my various knowledge to look for new things.

Finally, I love meeting musicians, whatever their age, their musical intentions or their level; I love to teach simply, because I teach is to share knowledge, and sharing is the very essence of music!
My course does not require any notion of music theory, because it is based on listening and practice.
However, if the student wants to deepen the theory, this is also widely possible.

Education

I started my musical training at the Conservatory of Tournai, I graduated to the maximum level in saxophone, advanced music theory and in classical writing and analysis.

I am now finishing my Bachelor degree in classical and contemporary saxophone at the Koninklijke Conservatorium in Brussels, with in parallel a second course about to culminate in harmony and classical writing, also at KcB.

Experience / Qualifications

I have lived a lot in very diverse formations, ranging from street groups such as Brass bands or other fanfares from the Balkans, through intimate experimental jazz trios, but also by larger orchestral groups, of instruments classical winds, Big bands, cover groups and even many contemporary quartets or children's music! ...

In short, I like diversity and I am convinced that there is a way to approach music in an absolute way, to be able to stick to all possible styles of music if we clearly identify the peculiarities and the spirit.

It is this key to universal understanding of music that I try to transmit through my lessons which, at the choice of the student of course, can switch from one style to another, from pop to classical, from rock to rock. jazz, rap to electro, ...

Je suis débutant saxo tenor. Premiere leçon tres bien et sympathique Je continue.
I just had my first class today. It was really great. I admire Bastien for the patience and words of encouragement. I will definitely continue our adventure with sax and the music!
Great prof, Bastien knows his material really well and knows very good exercices to improve technique.
Mon papa était très contente :)
Bastien is a great teacher!, as well as a very nice person. It was my first time with the saxophone (not with music in general) and at the end of the lesson I could already play (badly of course) a little song.
...
This applied music theory course is for any passionate musician, regardless of level. It aims to broaden his musical knowledge and abilities by understanding music as a whole. The goal is to be able to decode and understand how a music (not only of classical style, but also pop, jazz, rock, electro, ...) was composed, and to be able to use interesting harmonies oneself. and solid in a personal composition / production. It is made up of two main topics: * Harmony (building chords, understanding chord diagrams, learning to Harmonize a given melody, the possibility or not of using these Harmonies in a given style, etc.). But also understand the key, how to build a scale, how to navigate between different keys, how to transform a classic chord suite into another style? Harmony is a course open to all and all levels, no prerequisites to have. Any passionate musician will find interest in it, that's guaranteed. * Writing is a much more targeted course, which is already an introduction to classical composition. In this branch, we will develop the rules of classical writing (parallel fifths and octaves, false relations etc, ...) within the framework of an exercise based on a given melody or bass (in the first case it will be necessary to invent harmonization and compose a bass, in the second, it will be necessary to invent the harmonization and the melody). This course can also be used by academy or conservatory students who wish to prepare for the writing exam, or simply to deepen their knowledge.
Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (spe. Classical/contemporary saxophone), I know how to easily mix practical courses and theoretical notions, in order to adapt to the student as well as to his interests to provide a course that really brings him the elements that will allow him to quickly flourish in the musical field. With 7 years of teaching experience in ASBL and in particular, I usually train students of all ages, beginners as well as advanced. I am open to a large number of musical styles, current or old, focusing my artistic approach on an "all musical". I currently specialize in mastering the Saxophone, on a classical and contemporary repertoire, but I am also very open to improvisation and live music such as jazz (swing, bossa, fusion, ...) but also to electronic styles (D&B, Dubstep, Lofi, House,..) My ultimate goal is to allow the student to express his ideas in music, and that he evolves and flourishes in what he really likes. I take beginners without any knowledge of music theory. I am available in: * Brussels region. * Region of Tournai occasionally. * Online, via webcam lessons

Guitar lessons (acoustic & electric) for all ages
The guitar lesson will allow you to have an initiation for a person who has no notion about it or who is not necessarily foreign to certain concepts related around the instrument. The work will be carried out in stages, taking into account the level of the student, the objective pursued as well as the time dedicated, all this in a structured, fun way and above all taking pleasure. It will be a question of basic elements such as the work of major/minor open chords, scales, the development of the musical ear and gradually going into the depth of certain styles such as blues, funk, jazz, bossa nova, samba, pop. , rock to dissect other elements enriching the game on the guitar. This progressive work put in place will consolidate the foundations for developing learning over time.

Cours de violoncelle pour tous! / Cello lessons for everyone! / ¡Clases de Cello para todos! / Cellolessen voor iedereen!
Hello to everyone! My name is María, I am a Venezuelan Cellist. All my musical education was inside the musical program "El Sistema" in Venezuela. This education was based on preparing myself as a better human being though playing cello in orchestras, chamber music and as soloist. I am current studying my Master degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with Jeroen Reuling. In what consist my lessons? Cello classes for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced), it does not matter if you have never played cello before or if you are already studying, the important thing is to help you achieve the goals you want with this beautiful instrument. To have better results with practice, if it is necessary to help you with music theory, I will help you. As well, if you're looking for help in orchestral excerpts for auditions, I'm here for you! For kids, parental support is also important during some lesson, we are all a team and we need to work together to achieve the goals! Classes can be in person at your house or mine (BRUSSELS, BELGIUM) or via videocall (Skype, Zoom, etc). The schedules are planned according to the time of the student and the teacher. Looking forward to meeting you and work together! Maria.

Didgeridoo lessons for children and adults and how to be in harmony with the instrument
Experienced didgeridoo player to teach how to play the instrument. I offer classes at my home or at the student's home, or in the open air if the weather is nice. I can teach you basics, advanced techniques, and structures to play well. I also have a lot of exercises to work specific muscles. Getting to make the sound is the first step. The basic sound, the drone is not obtained only by blowing in the instrument but by squeezing the lips slightly by letting them vibrate. Then there are 3 types of breaths to master. From a type of circular breathing already the game can become richer because the sound is continuously ....

Chiara
Violon, musique - French, English, Italian, Spanish
In my classes I aim to transmit first of all my passion and love for music. I like to prepare a personalized programme adapted to the level and exigencies of each pupil. I also aim to include some violin duos, to be played with me during the lessons, as I believe playing with other musicians is one of the best ways to enjoy music and learn useful musical and technical skills at the same time. Another essential factor in my classes is correct and natural posture while playing, to let music heal our souls instead of hurting our bodies! ;) I have been practicing Yoga for a few years, and have experienced the importance of good posture and targeted light stretching, especially for younger players in a phase of growth and change. I like to help pupils to develop good technical skills in a fun way, always applying technique to targeted repertoire and keeping in mind that technique is nothing but a means of expressing ourselves through music. I give lessons in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

SAXOPHONE LESSONS / Master's Degree in music / 5 years living and playing in New York City!
Have you ever seen a saxophone and wondered how it feels to play it? It’s never too late to start! I will help you get started with the instrument. Do you already know how the instrument works? Great! Let’s take it to another level! I have plenty of study method books with a big range of different styles, we will find the ones that you enjoy the most and suit you better and combine it in the right way, to help you improve. Plus work on any music that you personally want to learn, name any song and I will help you learn how to play it! I myself had amazing and terrible music teachers during my learning process and believe me, I know what a difference makes… To really enjoy learning music or just to feel a ‘must study’, is the difference between ‘…I have to’ or ‘I want to!’. I finished a Bachelor and a Master's degree in the Music Conservatory (The Hague) and then spent five years in the jazz scene in New York City, which gave me a very wide experience. Whether you are a beginner or preparing to enter a Music Conservatory, I can help you. Classes description: I have different study books we can use depending on the level, Wastall, Klose, Voxman, classic duets, jazz duets, Rubank, Horen, Lezen & Spelen, etc…. Plus I can write for you the songs you want to learn. If you have specific needs of topics to learn I will adapt the lesson and material to it. If what you want is to start or develop further in jazz music and/or improvisation, I’m definitely ready to help you! Beginners: Start finding the sound of the instrument, where the notes are within all those keys, begin with learning how to read music if you don’t read yet, and find easy and fun songs to play to enjoy the instrument already. I can introduce you to the understanding of basic harmony and theory concepts to help understand better inside music that you are playing.  Intermediate: We can get to improve the technique of the instrument, reading skills, get more precision, speed, sound and timing and musical expression. Advance the understanding of harmony, its beauty and its possibilities. If you like to work on improvisation we can get to discover how to enjoy improvising with all the technical tools you already learned in the past and enhance that material according to your taste. If you want to start with playing jazz music I can introduce you to first steps and nice and technically comfortable songs to begin with. Advanced: At an advanced level it’s very important to understand the direction you want to take and what you especially want to improve. However I can help you perfectionate sound and timing, rhythm, vibrato, etc…, work on the accuracy of the reading and at the same time make it sound musical and human. On jazz music and/or improvisation, expand the vocabulary for improvising, the knowledge of harmony, what you can do with the material you know from different perspectives, increase precision and sense of direction when phrasing lines, learn more jazz standards, help on original compositions. And of course share all the better understanding of jazz music I learned during my years in New York City.
