As a full time Data Lead and Exams Officer at Conisborough College, I have a unique view of performance metrics, and the latest knowledge on GCSE exams. With a specialism in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, my style of teaching is an expression of my experiences as a student and a tutor.

My past tutoring experiences range from teaching secondary school classrooms and a lot of work with 1-on-1's. While I have had State Schooling my successful early experiences with exams (SATS, GCSEs) set me up with a solid foundation and ideal to approach exams by myself and eventually find my area of expertise in everything Maths and Physics.

When it comes to exam preparation, my strategy is always textbook oriented. My principle in education has always been to know what I don't know and then deal with my not-knowing of that chapter/area.
I like to use what is known/understood as a warm up and get creative with it, probing the student's baselines and tactics.
The warm up also gives you the winning-feeling about the subject and this is a feeling that grows and brings clarity such that it guides me year in, year out to go and understand every chapter to answer every topical exam question, and it can for you too.

When it comes to exam preparation, my strategy always relies on textbooks. My learning principle is simple: identify what I don't know, then address those gaps.

I like to start with what is already known and understood, using it as a warm-up. This allows me to assess the student's level and strategies, while making learning more dynamic and creative. This warm-up also gives you a sense of achievement, which strengthens over time and provides essential clarity. It's this approach that has allowed me, year after year, to assimilate each chapter and be able to answer each exam question. It can do the same for you.

Maths is a very important skill and piece of knowledge for everyday life I believe. I will focus on how to make sure you understand the topics you will have trouble with, help with any assignments given by your school, I will try to give you my own if I am aware of the topics you need help with. I will mostly tutor you based on the school curriculum the school you are in relies on to make sure you stay on their path and the tests they will base it on. I like to make sure you understand and improve your problem solving abilities and stop seeing a question as an unsolvable one.

The best way to build confidence and increase grades is to help students attain marks in assessments. I focus a lot on exam technique, working on practice questions with students to observe trends in the questions asked and mark schemes. Working in this way means students understand how examiners expect them to answer certain questions so that they don’t have to guess in the exam.

I also focus on building logical and problem-solving skills in students, so that students are able to solve any problem that they encounter in science and outside of the science curriculum. I also ensure to work on maths skills, as these make up a large part of physics exams but are also needed in biology and chemistry.

GCSE and IGCSE Physics
Tuition covers teaching and revising theoretical and practical aspects of the exam specification.
Electronic resources, practice exam questions and video clips to consolidate the development of practical skills are covered in lessons.

I base my tutoring on the student's needs, developing their prior knowledge, building confidence in their learning and problem solving skills whilst developing exam technique.

At the moment all tuition is at my home or is online using Skype or Zoom for audio and a video link. I use an interactive whiteboard that permits PDF/Power Point slides and electronic documents to be used during lessons. A PDF of all the pages is downloaded for students to help them with note taking and as for revision in the future. Additional help sheets and practice questions can be supplied to help with developing learning and exam technique.

I develop the student's learning experience at school and provide additional resources and practice questions. My students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and an appreciation of what examiners require by developing their assessment for learning skills.

I enjoy tutoring and my students have all benefited enormously from individualised support in preparation for their examinations. Tutees enjoy their tutorial style lessons which are normally 1 hour in duration, but longer times can be arranged if required.

Group tuition can be arranged and a sliding scale for the tuition fee will be applied depending on the number of students involved.
