About Me
1) Since when do you develop an interest in your discipline and for private lessons?

It's been 7 years since I teach different students. I started while I was in 5th humanity to help students with difficulties in math.
After my studies, I had the opportunity to explain subjects to audience peers or to my little cousins who are ten years younger than me.
I started teaching at 17 and since then I have only enjoyed helping my students to achieve their goals (courses, years, diplomas) which gives me a lot of personal satisfaction. . I like that feeling of being helpful and being able to imagine making a difference in a student's journey.

2) Tell us more about the subject taught, the topics you like to discuss with the students (and possibly the ones you like a little less)!

I am a physicist engineer, I like to explain everything related to mathematics and science in general. But I also give the computer sciences, the method of work, that it is for pupils in primary, humanity, university as well for scientific sectors as literary. I followed more than fifty students on these 7 years through 3 different platforms (ASBL "La Chaloupe", company "My sherpa: Educadomo" and ASBL "Blocus Assistance"). I learned a lot with them, whether it was accompanying students to a year-round program, managing students dropping out of school or monitoring blockades and giving lots of tips and tricks.

3) Tell us about your models, be it a teacher who has marked you or a work that inspired you!

My model is my grandfather, he has had a brilliant engineering career and has always been able to explain things to me in an offbeat and very playful way. Whether to redo the electricity of the house, disassemble an old vacuum to see how it works, repair a car ...

I try to take an example of him as each student is unique, advances at his own pace, and sometimes has a different learning method.

Traditional methods, whether in humanity or at university, are not suitable for everyone. If a student does not understand something, I explain it in another way than that of the teacher, and if that is not enough, I try new tracks until finding a way that allows him to assimilate the concept .

4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good expert in your field?
For me, a competent teacher is someone who can arouse curiosity, the desire to learn and to explain any subject to his students.

We must be attentive, listening to his students, understand them and adapt to help them better. My goal is always to allow the students to have all the keys in hand to be able to do without me once the finished work (but I am always available to return if necessary).

You need to know your different areas and try to understand how teachers work to help students meet their expectations.

Finally, a good teacher will have the complicity with his students, coach them, want to push them further and establish a bond of trust. When it is established, the two learn from each other.

5) An anecdote related to your profession or your schooling to tell us?

My job is a technical profession, analysis and reflection. I am fulfilled, but this activity of teacher is not a job, but a hobby that brings me a lot.

Being able to share with students, help them and see them succeed, is something that touches me. Being a teacher is a vocation and I could not have given classes every day to complete classes of 20 students or more. I prefer to keep this as a hobby so as not to depend on it and only get positive. If I do it, it's because I like it and not because I'm forced to, I think that makes all the difference.

6) Now you can reassure us and admit that you too have had difficulties in school ...

I was not the best of my class in humanity, far from it. I also doubled my first year at the university.
But I was able to find my method of work that allowed me to overcome all the obstacles and finally get my degree in civil engineering.

I think it's important to say that because I know what it's like to be a struggling student. I know what it is not to understand a subject.

I have brilliant friends, who always have the best points of the audience, but they are not necessarily good teachers. Indeed, they have always understood everything directly, so they do not know what it is to be lost, to understand nothing and to have difficulties.

I went through similar events, but I finally found my way. I can now see if a student has understood or thinks they have understood and if this is really the case. I have different mnemonics or more visual ways to see the material that would help someone who did not understand the first time.

I think this weakness that I had at one point in my studies is actually my greatest strength as a teacher.

7) Help us get to know you a little better by talking about your passions.

I have a passion for Japan, both traditional culture and the modern side with manga and anime. I lived in Tokyo for 6 months as part of my studies where I studied engineering in electronics and nanotechnology. I am also curious and I like to share what I know, it is not limited just to private lessons. Indeed, I plan to create a YouTube channel on nanotechnology to share what I know with curious people who want to learn more.

8) What makes you a Super Teacher?

It's the passion, the passion to explain, to discuss but above all, to learn. I am curious, I am interested in everything, and after learning many new things, I have only one desire: to share them!
It's the same with classes, I like to share the knowledge I've learned, help students understand subjects they do not necessarily appreciate, and even try to give them an affinity with them.
I think that the difficulties I have encountered allow me to better understand the students and I want to use this contact to help them.

In accordance with the request of the parents and the student, I assess his level of knowledge, his weak points, any delays in old basic concepts. Then I give him confidence: math is accessible to everyone when it is well explained.
I give my students maximum responsibility and make them actively participate so as not to make them dependent!
And finally, I provide specific help before a test, test or exam for lesser-known material.

I followed my schooling in math / science strong at the Royal Athenaeum of Uccle 1 with good results and realized many projects and extracurricular activities related to maths & sciences. I am entering the 3rd year of civil engineering at the ULB where my first two years went well with successes in the first session. I already took private lessons when I was in 5th and 6th high school students aged 12 to 16 years. I also gave remediation and tutoring to young students in order to instill in them a certain method of work / discipline.

During the first class I try to target the level and the personality of the student by doing with him his homework and the preparation for his next control. I always try in my explanations to start from very simple bases to reduce to the complexity of the question. It's just the way I work myself! I think it is important to repeat many similar exercises at first to make sure that it is acquired before moving on.

I am a civil engineer in construction and during my career, I made a specialization in chemistry, physics.

I give lessons in everything related to science: math, physics, chemistry...
I have been teaching in Belgium and even in England since 2015.

Generally I ask the student to give me the material he wants to work on and the best thing is for him to prepare his questions so that we can move forward faster instead of being blocked and at the risk of reviewing parts that he has already understood. (Although I once had a class where I completely re-explained the teacher's syllabus.)

I also ask to become familiar with the material and nothing is better for that than doing a lot of exercises.

Reconciling students with mathematics, physics and chemistry: this is the objective that I set for myself. How ?

The purpose of this particular course is twofold. On the one hand, to catch up with the student, by helping him to build a solid technical base in the subject of his choice. On the other hand, guide him in his working method by aiming for productivity and academic autonomy.

Today, a large number of students remain stuck in front of their notebooks for hours, without assimilating the slightest knowledge. Fascinated by productivity, I have long studied the factors that allow students to shine in their studies. Studying effectively is a skill that is not innate for everyone, but fortunately, it can be learned! Through these courses, I would like to guide students towards a productive way of working, in order to allow them to find an academic independence which will be vital for the transition to higher education.

A productive student will achieve better results by working less, which will allow him to savor the material, rather than undergo it. The satisfaction that is derived will then help him to maintain a level of motivation throughout the year.

My accompaniment:

• Available H24, 7/7, via message/email outside of class to answer urgent questions about a class or an exercise.
• Provide additional exercises if necessary.
• Organization of “mock” exams to simulate real assessment conditions.
• Possibility of giving lessons to two students at the same time if they are in the same class.
