May is a multitalented, passionated and creative entertainer who played in twenty eight countries. A Dutch born cocola/salsera who lives since 1994 over 17years in her second "home country' Puerto Rico. Trombone player, organist, arranger, musical director, teacher/clinician, teacher Spanish, journalist/writer and tourist guide! Her love and passion for all the good things the Island of Enchantement has to offer is reflected, besides in the many interviews she gave on international radio and tv, in two books : ¡Música,maestra! (Totemboek, the Netherlands, July 2009) and her recent bundle of short stories "Poco a poco" (Totemboek, the Netherlands, July 2016). But also in her CD, " Tributo de Tambor y Trombón en Clave de Mujer Boricua" ( Coquí Promotions, June 2013) a tribute to the grandes dames of Puerto Rican music, arranged and produced by Eric Figueroa, which is on #9 on the Top 20 Best Albums of the year 2013 of Puerto Rico". She played with The Cubop City Big Band (the Netherlands); Ronald Snijders Extended Band (Surinam); Elías Lopés, Plena Libre, Eddie Santiago (Puerto Rico); the Festival di Tumba, Jazz Festival, (Curaçao), the Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra (France/ United Kingdom/ the Netherlands) and the Flenn Miller Orchestra ( the Netherlands/Germany) and many more. May performed with her own band at the Teatro Francisco Arriví, Ventana al Jazz Fest- Condado, Long Weekend Jazz Fest- Humacao and Paseo de Letras- Old San Juan,Puero Rico, and national Radio 4 "Opium" the Netherlands. She gave workshops and lectures in the Caribbean, the United States, Europe and South Africa. She is a dedicated teacher and big band director. As a writer May was a correspondent for www.caribemagazine.nl representing Puerto Rico and Curaçao, as well as a reviewer for the Antillean Newspaper. She is as well a certified Tourist Guide, for the Puerto Rico Tourist Company.
Since 2019 she lives In Curaçao, where she plays as a free lance trombonist, as well in the Netherlands and Puerto Rico. Besides that she is a teacher Spanish in the Netherlands and Curaçao.

I'm looking for student's who not only want to learn a great technique for singing but whom also want to find and develop their own unique sound so they can express themselves through the art of song and tell a story.

I am a trained singer- songwriter & professional musician with a BA (hons) in Composition. Originally from london I moved to Brussels to do my masters degree. I am a trained singing with a level of grade 8, I have also spent the last 6 years touring as a front women and also a backing singing with various artists around europe, including 1 top 10 artist. I understand that although it's great to have a strong technique it's also about letting go and having confidence in your ability so you can relax in the moment.

I welcome students of all levels and all ages and teach a range of genres from Jazz to Rock. Alternatively I am happy to focus on technique if that is something you prefer to work on.

My name is Federico and I am a professional and Award Winning saxophone player.
I worked at Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles as an Assistant Professor of Jeroen Van Herzeele the jazz saxophone professor.
I graduated at Conservatorio G.Martucci of Salerno (Italy) and had both Bachelor and Master with full marks with honors. During the course of my studies i also spent two academic years abroad , one at the Kask and Conservatorium of Ghent with the supervision of Bart Defoort and one at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles with John Ruocco.
In 2017 i won the "Massimo Urbani International Jazz Competition" prize that saw as head of the jury Kurt Rosenwinkel & Fabrizio Bosso.
I play in several Jazz bands and I have been performing all around Europe.
I recorded a solo album called "Right Now" with the famous Italian label "Philology Records" & the album"Supernova" with my own band. I also recorded several albums with different bands and of many styles, from jazz, funk to pop.
I toured with the famous Italian Drummer Tullio De Piscopo (Pino Daniele, Mina, Astor Piazzolla's drummer) and also had the chance to make a variety of television appearances on Italian National Television (Rai1, Rai5, Rai3).

Singers like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra have left an indelible mark on American popular music through their jazz vocal stylings, fusing a conversational delivery with rhythmic and melodic improvisation. This course is tailored for each student to teach the unique characteristics of jazz singing and how to apply these characteristics to create your own sound. You will learn jazz phrasing, how to integrate good technique into jazz song styles, and how to sing with a number of time feels and grooves.

The course focuses on jazz vocal technique and delivery, including use of vocal inflections, dynamics, articulation, and interpretation, and how to improvise through rhythmic and melodic phrasing. The course then will go deeper into jazz improvisation expanding the musical vocabulary of scat studying syllabels, rhythm, and melodic ideas.

In this course we will apply these concepts to jazz tunes in various tempos and grooves, including ballads, medium swing, fast swing, and bossa nova. You'll move on to learn important considerations for effective stage presence and use of the microphone, too.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.
