This course offers a dynamic exploration of filmmaking as a timeline, weaving together the evolution of cinematic movements, genres, and influential auteurs with their corresponding geopolitical and historical contexts. Students will examine how film has both reflected and shaped societal narratives across different eras and regions.
Key themes and topics include:

The Birth of Cinema: Early experiments in motion pictures and the silent era's groundbreaking innovations.
Movements and Revolutions: From German Expressionism and Italian Neorealism to the French New Wave and beyond.

Genres Across Time: The rise of key genres, such as noir, science fiction, and musicals, and their social significance.

Auteur Theory: In-depth analysis of iconic directors whose works have defined and challenged cinematic norms.

Global Perspectives: Exploration of world cinema, including Asian, African, and Latin American contributions to the art form.

Cinema as Social Commentary: Films as responses to historical moments, such as wars, revolutions, and cultural shifts.

Some sessions may require students to watch specific films outside of class or before attending the next session. These films will be integral to class discussions and assignments.

I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen.

I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist.

I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns.

In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on.

You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns.

Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.

En este curso conocerás enfoques y estrategias para trabajar el patrimonio cultural local y regional en la escuela, integrando salidas a terreno, trabajo con objetos, simulaciones arqueológicas y proyectos de aula.

Este seminario de 6 clases propone un recorrido profundo por la vida y la obra de Andrei Tarkovski, uno de los directores más grandes e influyentes de la historia del cine.

Clase 1: Biografía y formación
Se abordará su infancia, su crianza en un entorno católico dentro de la Unión Soviética, el contexto social y cultural de la época, su formación como estudiante de cine y sus primeras películas. El objetivo es comprender de dónde nace su mirada artística y espiritual.

Clases 2 a 6: Filmografía y lenguaje cinematográfico
Se realizará un análisis completo de su obra, siguiendo un recorrido cronológico por sus películas para identificar temas, obsesiones y transformaciones a lo largo del tiempo.
Trabajaremos su estilo y lenguaje cinematográfico:
– el tiempo y el ritmo
– las atmósferas
– la memoria
– los símbolos
– lo espiritual
– la construcción de sentido a través de la imagen

También se abordarán dos ejes fundamentales:
– la censura del Estado y su relación conflictiva con las instituciones soviéticas
– la presencia del cristianismo y la espiritualidad en su cine

El seminario está orientado al análisis narrativo, estético y simbólico, no técnico, y busca desarrollar una mirada más profunda y reflexiva sobre el cine de autor.

Está dirigido tanto a personas sin conocimientos previos como a estudiantes, realizadores y amantes del cine que quieran comprender mejor la obra de Tarkovski y su importancia en la historia del cine.
