As a biomedical scientist with a PhD in Medicine and Health Sciences, I enjoy helping students of all ages to better understand the material and learn with greater confidence. We work at your own pace and in a way that suits your learning style.

How does a lesson work?
In the first session, we identify the main difficulties together. From there, we build up step by step. I encourage questions and provide practical tips and strategies to make studying more effective.

We work through exercises together, discuss examples, and then move on to more challenging problems to deepen understanding. This approach ensures you’re well prepared for your tests and exams.

A positive learning experience
Learning should be enjoyable. With a patient, motivating and clear approach, I create a relaxed environment where it’s okay to make mistakes, and no question is too much to ask — because that’s how real learning happens.

Extra information

I work best when you let me know in advance what you’re struggling with — for example, planning, summarising, a specific subject, or a type of exercise. This allows us to use our time more efficiently and get to the core of the problem faster. Of course, we always work at your own pace, because you are at the centre of the learning process.

Please make sure to bring all your study materials: course notes, textbooks, class notes, planning sheets, past tests or exams, and any online materials (on your laptop, tablet, or printed out). The more complete your materials, the better I can identify where things go wrong and find the most effective way to help you.

About Me

My name is Michiel. During my studies and years as a volunteer, I discovered how much joy and fulfilment sharing knowledge with others can bring. I believe that learning should not only be educational but also enjoyable and inspiring.

I enthusiastically provide tutoring in biology and mathematics for anyone wishing to deepen their understanding, strengthen their knowledge, or gain better insight into specific topics. Thanks to my PhD in neuroscience and international experience, I can explain complex subjects clearly, always tailored to your pace and learning style. My goal is not only to help you understand how something works but also to give you the confidence to apply it independently.

In addition to tutoring, I enjoy sharing my passion for plants and cooking by organising creative workshops on plant care and the making of artisanal doughs.

You can also contact me for practical guidance in Microsoft Office or advice on optimising photographic material. Together, we work step by step toward greater understanding, skills, and confidence.

Education

I hold a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, during which I developed a strong foundation in human biology, physiology, and research methodology. In addition, I obtained a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in Medicine and Health Sciences, during which I conducted interdisciplinary research at the intersection of neuroscience, molecular biology, and clinical science. This academic journey has provided me with in‐depth expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication, as well as extensive experience working in both academic and clinical research environments.

Experience / Qualifications

I have extensive experience working in academic and clinical research laboratories, with a strong background in scientific and analytical methodologies. My work has given me a solid foundation in both practical and theoretical aspects of research, complemented by international experience through conference participation. I have trained fellow researchers in advanced laboratory techniques and guided young learners during educational holiday programs. I take pride in explaining complex topics in a clear and structured way, always adapting my approach to the student’s level, needs, and learning goals.

With a bachelor's and master's degree in speech therapy (both with honors), I offer individualized instruction tailored to each student's needs. I provide homework help and exam preparation support. Revision sheets and self-assessment tests will be developed and offered regularly. My goal is to help students progress without overwhelming them.
