Not-So-Fun facts about learning singing:
1. You should efficiently practice singing every day! (If not, at least 5 times a week.)
2. It really really takes time, so please be patient and kind to yourself.
3. All Songs/Arias/Recits consist of multiple components, you need to dedicate yourself to each part of the component separately, with no shortcuts and no cheating.
4. Singing lessons can be very abstract and vary a lot on each individual, it is super common to feel that you get lost, when you feel that way, don't be afraid to talk it out and we can find sa olution together.

About Me

Fun facts about me:
1. I'm a Classical singer. I studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. My voice teachers were Noa Frenkel and Amand Hekkers.
I'm a member of the Opera Group - The Fat Lady in Haarlem.

2. I'm a tenor; I used to be a high-baritone.
(So I know the struggle of the voice type identity).

3. I have done opera/oratorio productions all around the Netherlands. I've performed as a soloist and also as a chorister.
I also have some experience in Jazz singing, so if you want, I can give you the knowledge that I have about Jazz singing.

4. I'm patient and friendly, and supportive, so you can feel totally safe while you are learning from/with me.

5. I'm pretty bad at playing piano.

6. I don't have much teaching experience, so pardon me if sometimes I get clumsy.

7. I have good ears; I can hear clearly how your voice or your body works while you are singing, and I can help you improve your singing technique.

Learning to sing is a long but an exciting process. This class is aimed for anyone who feels curious about starting to learn how to control their voice and the basics of vocal technique. It doesn't matter if you want to sing classical, jazz, pop music... learning to understand how your voice works is always good!

The present course is tutored by a Classical Singer and a Classical Pianist, both study connected to the Royal Conservatory Den Haag.

It is preferred to work weekly to optimize results. The singing, and main teacher, is always present to assure the vocal progression. The piano coach will be present as often as requested by the student/advised by the teacher. The pupils will then have the best piano accompaniment.

The main objective of the course is to work accordingly with the student's goals to give a well-driven direction to our study.

The course it's thought with classic technical basics (healthy vocal benefits) but other styles can be added like the musical, jazz, cabaret, etc...

Each case will have a personalized answer. The teachers' connection to the Royal Conservatory also ensures that complex problems can be solved by asking the highest experts.

> Lesson structure:

✓ The lessons start with body/posture awareness, movement and breathing exercises followed by an individual set of vocalizes that may incorporate some scales, cords and/or improvisation.

✓ After the warm-up, depending on the student's level and goals, some song methods may fallow and/or the repertoire on which we decided to work.

✓ While working on the pieces several kinds of information will be provided:

• The Anatomy of the Voice (body, breathing, vocal cord, resonances, prevention and counseling about vocal disorders);

• Language and Phonetic knowledge of Italian, French, German, English, Spanish and Portuguese (+ strategies to enable singing in other languages).

• Vocal Interpretation, phrase, prosody, colors, coordination with the piano and tools how to personalize the 'message', among others based on appropriate bibliography;

• Drama basics, stage preparation, and fright avoidance strategies.

• Music Theory and History in order to understand the pieces more deeply through a quick analysis, period and style.

✓ At the end of each season (non-mandatory) public auditions can be arranged whenever an artistic space would be willing to receive great voices and repertoire. This works as progressive training for students individually and/or coupled - ensemble skills.

The lessons can be given in English, Spanish and Portuguese. They can be held at the teacher's location or at the student's address.

Welcome to my introduction site!

My name is Marta and music has been a great love and passion for my entire life.
Singing lessons are not only an opportunity to learn singing and something new about music but also an opportunity to express emotions, forget about everyday worries, and have fun!
Through music theory lessons you can learn about the structure of music and also develop some very useful music skills such as reading music (sight-singing or sight-reading).

All students who have a specific goal in mind, but also all who do not have any specific goal in mind and want to sing or learn theory just for fun, are very welcome!

Different options for lessons that I am offering are described below and all of them can be modified and adjusted according to the wishes and needs of the student:

SINGING LESSONS FOR CHILDREN (individual or group lessons - maximum 10 students*)
Singing lessons for children is basically an integrated method that combines singing with solfeggio, developing basic music theory skills. It consists of playing musical games and singing children's songs and those developing intonation, musical hearing, musical memory, sense for pulse and rhythm, all with attention to healthy singing.

SINGING LESSONS FOR TEENAGERS AND ADULTS (individual or group lessons - maximum 10 students*)
During singing lessons, we will be searching for a deeper meaning of the story and different ways of interpretation, with attention to healthy singing techniques, pronunciation, and style. The lessons consist of breathing exercises, and vocal warm-up exercises with a specific technical goal and work on the desired repertoire - meaning of the words and story, vocal technique, pronunciation, interpretation, and style.
My specialization is in classical singing but I don’t mind working on other genres in my classes.

SIGHT SINGING LESSONS (individual or group lessons)
Intense course where you will be learning how to read music at sight. The lessons consist of sight singing only, beginning from the easiest level and gradually learning how to read more and more difficult music. You will develop skills needed for sight singing as well as a certain way of thinking appropriate for sight singing. (There is no technique of singing or interpretation involved in these lessons.)

SOLFEGGIO LESSONS (individual or group lessons, for children from 8 years old, teenagers, and adults)
In these lessons, you will learn how to bring written music to life (sight-singing), how to discover and put on paper the music you hear (musical dictation), and how to build scales, intervals, and chords. This knowledge is needed and examined in every conservatoire and music academy. For some conservatoires and academies, this is an obligatory pre-requirement and elimination factor on entrance exams. It is an inevitable part of every professional music education.

MUSIC THEORY LESSONS (individual lessons)
Music theory lessons can include, if desired: solfeggio, harmony, counterpoint, music form, analysis, and/or other music theory-related subjects. For each subject, we can make a special program, depending on the wishes and needs of the student.

COMBINED SOLFEGGIO AND SINGING LESSONS
Combined solfeggio and singing lessons are also possible for adults, as separate subjects or integrated with singing lessons. In both cases, the duration of each lesson is 90 minutes and the program is discussed and created based on the wishes and needs of the student. (A combination of individual singing lessons and a group solfeggio lesson is also possible.*)

AUDITION TRAINING AND PREPARATION FOR EXAMS (individual lessons)
Preparation for auditions concerning singing and/or music theory includes preparation for entrance exams, regular exams on conservatories, or preparation for ABRSM exams.

Hi !

I am Héloïse, a french cellist and singer who lives in The Netherlands since two years. I finished to study at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium in june and am now a professional musician and, among other a cello teacher at the Lindenberg Center in Nijmegen.

After teaching music theory for two years in a french conservatory, I realised how much teaching is very important for me and helps me to grow as a musician. I like to adapt to the student and try to find a solution in any pedagogical situation.

Hey hey, I'm a 22-year-old fourth-year conservatory student. I've been singing and playing piano with all my heart since I was 5.
I started teaching singing and piano three years ago (in Dutch and English) and have discovered that I really enjoy it.
