Traditional & Post-Contemporary Realist Oil Painting
Note: ALL SUPPLIES & TOOLS ARE PROVIDED FOR THE STUDENTS FOR THE FIRST TEN (10) LESSONS — All canvas, stretcher-bars, panels, paper, brushes, pens, pencils, ink, charcoal, paints, varnish, etc. The finished artworks are, of course, your to keep.
There are many ways to create a so-called "realistic" oil painting. And there are many visual tools that an artist can use to make a beautiful visual statement. Whether using thick impastos, thin washes of solvent-based color, bodied glazes, or mixed media elements, each technique can yield an engaging visual experience. Painting is, after all, a means of communication.
In this course, we will begin with the basic ideas and techniques for drawing and painting forms as the eye sees them. You will learn every stage for producing aesthetically pleasing and technically strong oil paintings. We will discuss concepts and ideas for painting, developing different studies, stretching the canvas, line drawing, tonal lay-in, dead-coloring (or color block-in), and modeling the forms (1st painting, 2nd painting, and finishing). We will also cover the techniques of alla prima or premier coup (direct painting in one pass). We will also study the formal methods of composition, different kinds of perspectives, paint surface and paint quality (facture), and proportions. And, of course, we will discuss the use of varnishes, including the final picture varnish.
Stay calm and confident if some of these terms are new to you. We will adapt the lessons for each artist. I will help you to learn, understand, and perform each step of the painting process.
Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced painter: there is something for you!
I can provide a list of materials to the student who desires to purchase their own, including high-quality French or Belgian linen or other items. However, I'll provide all the materials for the first ten lessons. This is also true for the costly genuine mediums (advanced). Each complete lesson is ideally 3 hours, including all art materials for that lesson (for the first 10 lessons). Three hours per lesson provides the best-structured learning environment. Students are free to abbreviate the session at any point. However, there are no discounts for shortening the pre-paid session.
I will cover all of the course materials in approximately 40 hours.

Painter offers drawing lessons, face, body or perspectiveClasses can take place in my workshop.
My teaching method is first of all to understand the expectations of my students and to adapt the teaching according to the level and expectations.
Learn to observe and trust yourself for anatomical and technical learning.
For a more instinctive learning with the material, I would give "rules of the game" agreed with the students, we will thus be able to have a framework in which the students can express themselves.
- Anatomy of the face and body
- Understand how to observe and transcribe the masses
- Basis of observational perspective drawing
- Technique development - collage - pencil - acrylic - felt-tip pen
Attentive and caring, I will ensure that I support you as best I can in your artistic projects.

You don’t have to be a professional artist to have the right to create. A unique method of awakening spontaneous drawing in adults. You don’t have to be a professional artist to have the right to create. Spontaneous drawing doesn’t require a license to draw a line. We have our own well of images inside us which can be re-activated.
But how? To draw spontaneously, a practical method, offering suggestions and advice, allow us to overcome the anxiety of the blank page.

The Art of Building through drawing, painting and engravingDuring the classes you will learn about the art of building through drawing, painting, engraving and sculpting.
By drawing you will learn the effect of a monument according to its place, for drawing appears to be the best means of developing intelligence and judgment. You will also learn about orientation, light and shade. You will inscribe in your mind the methods used by the masters to produce the desired effect on a given place under particular conditions. You will analyse the fundamental principles, the rules of proportion, those gentle relationships between the parts and the whole, which the ancients gave to the orders in ancient buildings, to those of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
To communicate your thoughts clearly, to record your observations and to find the reason for all things, you will draw, paint and engrave from nature. Drawing is a language, a means of expression and communication, an art that complements and is indispensable to all professions, such as speaking and writing.

CINEMA, ACTING, IMPROVISATION WORKSHOPS - - -These sessions allow the development of skills and knowledge of the trade, with the game facing the camera, familiarization with the audiovisual environment and the camera tool, in the art of acting.
Your inventiveness and your uniqueness being at the center of your training, it is a question of dwelling on the objective criteria, such as the voice, the use of the body, the relationship with the partner, the capacity to occupy the space. But it is also the singularity and the commitment that are decisive.
The objective of this training is to be able to:
- Analyze and dissect a text
- Create, develop and embody a character
- Understand the artistic and technical writings of a film or a play
- Create, cultivate and develop one's artistic identity and singularity
(...)
Through simulations and role-playing, the association between theory and practice makes it possible to achieve its objectives.
PLACES :
- Locations: Geneva - Lausanne - Friborg - Neuchâtel - Montreux - Basel - Sion - Sierre - Morges - Bienne. But currently and until further notice, only by videoconference in accordance with national recommendations on Covid.
These sessions, for which you have asked me, also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). Indeed, they have the advantage of face-to-face sessions (ex: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time) with additional advantages (ex: the entire session transcribed in writing on the chat). That is why, at your request, I continue to offer this option.
- As other people do regularly, you can also please your loved ones by offering gift vouchers available all year round.

From a Grande Ecole post-preparatory class in France & Ivy League University in the United States, our teacher has specialized and has worked for more than 14 years in the field, in international establishments, intervening in forums and conferences.

Visual Arts: Practice, Theory, and Cultural ContextsThis visual arts class offers students a structured introduction to both the practice and theory of art. Through hands-on activities such as drawing, painting, and working with mixed media, students will develop their technical skills and creativity. At the same time, they will explore important art movements, styles, and artists from different cultures and historical periods.
The course encourages students to think critically about what art means, how it is created, and how it reflects the world around us. Lessons include discussions, visual analysis, and short readings to help students understand how art connects to ideas like identity, culture, and history.
Students are guided to express their own thoughts and experiences through their artwork, while also learning to describe and reflect on the work of others. By the end of the course, they will have built a small portfolio and gained greater confidence in both making and understanding visual art.
The class can be conducted in English or French.

MENTORING IN ARTS : Discover how to say something through your artistic work.I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen.
I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist.
I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns.
In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on.
You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns.
Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.
