I studied Latin for 6 years (high school and university) and read the works of (among others) : -Ovidius -Virgil -Horace -Civero -Catullus I assign homework and after I receive it, correct it thoroughly additionally providing a lot of remarks/examples if they are necessary. As opposed to the "memorise grammar rules and then babble them in front of the class" approach that was demonstrated by the infamous "Romanēs eunt domus" scene from Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", you will learn to feel the grammar, so that you will be able to use the different cases of Latin without even thinking about it, just like a native speaker! Salvē, my name is Carlotta and I have 6 years of experience in tutoring. These days these continue online, which in my experience does not reduce the quality or results in any way. Since April 2022, I have been taking Latin language acquisition courses at Schola Latīna, an Italian private school that uses the comprehensible input (CI) method. This means that all lessons are taught exclusively in the target language, allowing me to not only translate Latin, but also speak and write it. Since no Flemish school expects active language skills, I will of course not do this unsolicited during lessons ;) In practice the same problems always return: difficulties with translation, difficulties with memorization of sequences and vocabulary, lack of motivation or fun. When such a fantastic profession is experienced as difficult, it is only logical that motivation also drops. Whatever the problem, Latin itself is a perfectly feasible subject.
