Trusted teacher: Hello and welcome ! My name is Charlotte, I am a singing teacher and professional opera singer. I graduated from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris at the highest level with honours and I have a Masters in Opera Singing from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, where I have won several prizes. I am the recipient of a prestigious scholarship from the Malvina and Denise Menda Foundation of the Fondation de France. I also have a BA in Art History from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute. I teach the principles of vocal technique that form the basis of all singing styles: finding an ideal posture and alignment of the body and the air column and eliminating unnecessary tension; optimizing breathing and support (singing with the whole body); beauty and homogeneity of the voice in all registers (homogeneity especially in lyrical singing); clear and precise articulation in all languages. Of course, these bases adapt differently depending on the styles and offer keys to freeing the voice, and not to restricting the singer! My teaching is holistic and I take into account the whole person with great sensitivity. The voice is at the center of the body and mind, and singing unifies the two. I deeply believe in the well-being that singing brings and its power to release. My life as an artist began as a classical dancer (I was a dancer in the young dancers program at the Royal Opera House, London) and this taught me a good awareness of my body and how to transmit it to others. Singing is mastered by listening to one's body. I also practice meditation and yoga at a high level and I transmit these techniques of connection to the body and breath, and the state of relaxation that they bring. In my teaching, accuracy, solfege and precision are very important. I was first a violinist and I was a member of one of the prestigious choirs of the University of Cambridge during my degree. So I have a good ear that developed further during these trainings. Singing is above all communication and my mission is to allow everyone to express their authentic and unique voice. I am passionate about theater and the art of communicating our sincere emotions and those of the characters we play. Vocal technique gives us the means, but it is the connection to oneself and to the meaning of the music and the text that allows us to express ourselves fully and sincerely. It is a work that fascinates me as much as that of vocal technique. All the more so, the connection to emotion broadens the palette of colors of the voice, without which we can only produce beautiful sound. My classes usually last an hour. Typically, I start my classes with breathing exercises and body observation. We continue with warm-ups and vocalizations to work on technique. Then we work on the repertoire of your choice. After studying at the conservatory and music school, I obtained my Diploma of Musical Studies (DEM) specializing in jazz guitar. OPTION1) The course I offer is aimed at beginner to intermediate level guitarists, of all ages (children too!), in acoustic and electric guitar. My goal is to give you the essential basics of the instrument (body position, technique, chords) as well as an understanding of fundamental musical concepts (rhythm, ear, reading tablature and/or music theory) which will be very useful to you as a musician. We will base our learning as quickly as possible on real pieces of music, if possible suggested by the student because I think that learning by playing the music you like is the most motivating method. As a teacher, I have always adapted as best I could to each profile to make them learn in the way that suited them best, make them play the music they like, help them with their difficulties and push them to surpass themselves in their abilities. Finally, I always make sure that the lessons take place in a calm and pleasant atmosphere so that the student progresses at their own pace and learns while having fun. OPTION 2) This course is for intermediate to advanced guitarists (and musicians in general) who want to acquire a deeper understanding of music theory. What we can cover, depending on your needs: analysis, harmony, composition, transcription, improvisation, music theory, ... Lessons can take place at my home, in the 15th arrondissement, or at the student's home where I can travel (for an extra) within a reasonable radius.
