About Me
Hey! I'm Gabriele, a guitarist and lutenist for some time in Zurich.I offer classical and modern guitar lessons, and why not also lute lessons, to children and adults.
I am a classical musician with a recent specialisation in renaissance and baroque music at Zhdk, where I obtained my master's degree in lute, theorbo and baroque guitar performance. Prior to this, I studied classical guitar in Italy, where I graduated with honours from the Conservatory of Bologna. In my musical career, I have also had the opportunity to approach modern music, such as pop and rock, and some jazz. I consider myself a curious musician, convinced that the beauty of sounds can be found anywhere and in any musical genre.
My teaching methods are extremely flexible and adapt to the student according to his or her inclinations and sensibilities. I believe that the teacher, at times, is like a tailor who sews a tailor-made suit for his or her pupil, after understanding his or her personality and aspirations. Getting to know the person is fundamental for me, only then can effective and sincere communication be created.
Three principles are fundamental in my educational methods:
- Technical knowledge of the instrument, both in the classical and modern repertoire; The study of technique must help us to express what we want in the most beautiful and clear form possible;
Knowledge of solfege and music theory: theory must complement practice and give us “awareness” of what we are doing. We learn to know the grammar of a language in a natural way, without getting lost in abstractions;
Finally, we will use exercises and “musical games” to develop rhythmic and sound perception and, consequently, musical sensitivity. Through small moments in which we will sing and also gain rhythmic confidence with our bodies, we will learn to develop a musical ear.
Finally, through exercises and “musical games” of rhythmic and sound perception, we will develop a musical ear and, therefore, musical sensitivity, through small moments in which we will sing and become rhythmically familiar with our own bodies as well.
Music must be a living experience, not confined to an instrument, but integrated into a way of living and thinking.

On music popular styles like "flamenco" (rumbas, fandangos, alegrías, sevillanas, etc) and its different ways of strumming, scales, harmony structures and "compás". Or we can deep in the huge and fantastic world of early music through the tablatures and manuscripts from the XVI century.
