Hello! I am Alfonso, 28 years old from Spain and I have just completed my master's degree in concert piano at the Bruckner University in Linz. I did my bachelor's degree in piano performance in Valencia (Spain), then I lived in Ireland for three years where I furthered my studies and I have been living in Linz for three years. In over 6 years of experience, I have discovered a passion for teaching, the opportunity to share my musical knowledge and love of music, making each lesson a moment of development, discovery and joy. Although my musical background is in classical music, I am very flexible in my teaching and adapt to the needs and interests of the students. From classical to pop, from jazz to film music. Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

The trumpet: its correct technical execution and the interpretation of popular and academic universal repertoires, is available to everyone regardless of their age. We will build a logical sequence of studies that will help develop the technical aspects. And we will address repertoires according to the age and taste of the student. we will draw a path with short, medium and long term goals. we will build a technical routine and healthy habits to progress correctly. In addition, we will select musical pieces by mutual agreement to mature the technical development hand in hand with musical growth. I am a professional trumpeter, I have participated in symphony orchestras, wind bands, big band, and small chamber and jazz ensembles. I have extensive experience teaching children, youth and adults. For me it is very important to make music from the first lesson, because there must be a balance between technical practice and its application in small melodies or musical pieces. No matter the musical genre, we will always find a repertoire according to the level and interest of each student. If you already know how to play and you need to perfect a piece or prepare a recital or audition, you can count on my experience and accompaniment as well.

I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality. I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos. I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits. My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students with their Piano Exams like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grade 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas). I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old and my youngest one has 3 years old. They made great progress, I am sure you could do the same. I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano. I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation. I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music. I have more than 7 years of personal psychoanalytic work experience, which allows me to delve into the details of each student in detail. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.
