The ability to speak another language is becoming more and more encouraged. Therefore I would like to use my years of experience to help you!

A bit about me:
I am a second year university student learning Chinese. I speak 5 languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and (in progress) Mandarin Chinese.
I have been learning languages ever since I started learning English at the age of 4 (with Portuguese being my mother tongue.

A bit about what I would cover:
For complete beginners I would compile interactive classes in which I would set weekly exercises that are adaptable to your needs. I would be offering one hour classes but these could be shortened or lengthened to your desire and as frequently as three times a week if needed.

For Intermediate with some experience and simply want help refining or practicing, I would be able to offer help by practicing conversational skills or going over any questions on specific or broad topics. Furthermore, I would be able to assist with helping you understand and communicate like a native speaker.

Are you moving to Portugal and want your kid to learn a bit before moving there?
Are you Portuguese native speakers who are living abroad and want to understand how your child is developing?
Is one of the parents of your child a Portuguese native speaker?
Do you want a babysitter who can teach your child a language in the meantime?
Is your child transitioning from an international school to one with a Portuguese curriculum?

These are only some of the few encounters I’ve had in the past with kids who learned Portuguese language in a fun and engaging way. If your kid talks PT/EN/FR/NL/SP I can speak with them.

My strongest suit as a teacher is patience and I can connect to children quite easily (maybe because my mum is a kindergarten teacher). I know how hard it is to hold a kid’s attention for long stretches of time. Thus I try to turn the classroom into a playground and make it as interactive as possible. The focus will be to learn vocabulary as opposed to writing complex sentences, depending on your child’s proficiency of the language.

My method is super flexible and I adjust it to every student. I usually share my screen and make use of audiovisual material such as books, songs, videos and games. The latter seems to have the most success so far as we cheerfully shout Portuguese vocabulary such as animals, numbers, letters, colors etc.

My name is Nicolas, and I am a Brazilian Portuguese teacher with eight years of teaching experience. I have been speaking Portuguese for about ten years now. I learned the language while living in Brazil for several long periods, both for study and work. I am currently living there again.

Having also gone through the process of learning to speak this language, I am well aware of the different stages my students go through. This helps a lot.

My lessons are tailor-made to achieve personal goals and are adapted to the specific needs of each student.

Practice is prioritized throughout the learning process in order to gain autonomy as quickly as possible. Grammar is also covered, depending on the student's level.
