About Me

I am Yuka, and I am a passionate Korean language teacher with a deep understanding of both language and culture. I offer engaging, student-centered lessons tailored to individual goals—whether you're learning Korean for travel, study, work, or personal interest.

With experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, I focus on practical communication, grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context. I aim to make learning enjoyable, interactive, and effective for learners at all levels—from complete beginners to more advanced speakers.

I’m also fluent in Mongolian and English, and a little bit Dutch and currently living in Belgium, where I continue to teach and support students both online and in person.

Education

I studied Literature and Language Acquisition at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, where I focused on how people learn new languages and how language and culture are connected. This background helps me understand how to teach Korean in a way that fits each learner’s needs and learning style.

I teach (basic) Dutch to (young) adults who speak other languages. The purpose of the lesson is to be able to have easy and simple conversations in daily life. In addition, there is also practice on language comprehension and written language production. We practice Dutch on the basis of role plays, audio clips and newspaper articles. Also people who already have some knowledge of Dutch are more than welcome to join. During the first lesson we will discuss your requirements so that I can adapt my lessons accordingly.

I am an Italian native speaker, and I use English in my daily personal and working life.

Talking to someone is the best way you can practice new languages. When I was a teenager I moved to Canada for six months to learn English, and even if I struggled at the beginning, pushing myself to have crooked conversation with friends was the perfect way to start mastering the language.

Effortless English Language Learning

is my favourite method of teaching people USEFUL English to help them become confident English speakers fast, without studying or effort.

Here is how you will learn if you choose to take this Course:
During each session:

STEP 1: I ask you "appropriate" questions to what's most important to you in your life.

STEP 2: You reply as good as you can.

STEP 3: I correct your English where necessary, your pronunciation if needed, and help you say what you actually are trying to say (FYI: I have 18 years of experience in teaching English ).

STEP 4: Together we create a script, a piece of text, for your next 1-minute English ListeningExercise.

STEP 5: After the session I professionally record your tailor-made 1-minute English ListeningExercise.

STEP 6: Your task is to listen to that ListeningExercise for 10 minutes every day with headphones.

STEP 7: A week later (or less), you take your next session with me where you show me how well you can say your 1-minute English ListeningExercise from memory and we repeat the process.

It doesn't matter if you have a beginner or mid-intermediate English level, if you follow these steps, then there is no need to focus on English grammar or sentence structure because that will come automatically to you.

Is the subject matter unclear, are you missing the basic knowledge needed to continue learning, do you not have enough exercises or do you not know how to go about it all? Depending on that, I determine the strategy needed to achieve results in the long run.

I am someone who is patient and understanding. The most important thing for me is that the student feels comfortable, only then we can make progress together. This way I take away the fear of making mistakes, and the student achieves a better command of the language.

I was born and raised in Ghent, Belgium, and spent my formative years in the UK, where I graduated in Modern Languages—Chinese and French—from The University of Westminster in London. After completing my studies, I spent two decades in Asia, primarily in Greater China. Now back "home", as a full time dad of two princesses who have Chinese heritage, communicating in various languages - sometimes in one sentence - is just part of our day.

With hands-on teaching experience in China, the UK, and Belgium, I adopt an engaging and intuitive approach to language learning. I tutor English, French, and Mandarin Chinese, applying the same creativity I used in my past career, which involved leading teams, crafting brand stories, and working across cultures.

My sessions are customised to meet each student’s specific needs and interests.
