Students will learn to achieve fluency with the basic materials of tonal music and develop the practical aural skills expected of every professional musician. These include a proficiency in sight singing and dictation, an immediate recognition of musical idioms, an ability to communicate musical ideas with the voice, proficiency in executing a variety of basic rhythmic and metric concepts and the continued development of musical memory.
