I specialise in teaching Bharathanatyam, an Indian Classical Dance. It is catered to students from the age of 4 to adults, no age restriction, as long they are interested and willing to learn.

This class is for aspiring Indian classical dancers. My goal is to keep the class as engaging and interesting as possible and to share the knowledge of dance to the students.

Each class would be one hour. It is conducted at Amstelveen Shiva Yoga studio on Friday evenings.

Acerca de mí

I am Latha, an auditor by profession for past 7 years and a part time tutor for 5 years. I love handling students and teaching them. I would like to make learning as fun and at the same time challenging as possible so that students would be engaged.

Students would need to come with the positive right learning attitude to learn.

I have been learning Bharathanatyam, Kalakshetra style, since the age of 6 under the tutelage of V. Balakrishnan Sir and Priyan Sir. I am a trained Indian classical dancer. I have completed my arangetram, first debut dance performance at the young age of 16. I have danced in several dance competitions, school performance, temple events, festivals and TV shows. I am currently learning Kuchipudi under the guidance of Premela Balakrishnan. I have been teaching bharathanatyam in Amstelveen Netherlands for past 3 years. My students have performed in several Indian events in Netherlands.

Diploma in Accountancy, Scored As in Mathematics and English subjects in my primary and high school
Learnt Bharathanatyam for more than 20 years.

You will learn how to show your emotions through movements to best inspire the audience and enjoy. We will work on rhythm, tempo (which are two different things), creativity, improvisation techniques and theatrical performance (if interested). I do not like to work genre-based (for instance only hip-hop, or only classical music), but we will practice what you like the most. However, my strengths are rather in contemporary and modern style, hip hop, breakdance, belly dancing, and Persian dance. We can also specialize in one of these if you are interested.
