Trusted teacher: I am a 28-year old guitarist, songwriter and composer based in Den Haag, songwriting, composition, electric and acoustic guitar, in combination with music theory. I teach in English or in Greek. I am half Greek and half Scottish and I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I offer lessons in all styles, to all age groups, and for any experience level (ranging from students who have never written a song before, up to experienced songwriters who are looking for fresh ideas and improving their skills to really make their songs shine). Face to face lessons are preferable, but I also teach online. I am a patient and open minded teacher, and my desire is to help you learn what you want to learn, and make sure you enjoy and take pride in your songs, learn to express your musical ideas as best as possible and nurture your curiosity and excitement about the world of music creation ! My Credentials: I hold a Bachelors of Music degree from Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), and a Masters of Music from The Hague Royal Conservatory. My experience as a songwriter and composer ranges from writing songs and singing in indie / off-beat rock bands, solo guitar and vocal performances, home-production of my own songs, creation of instrumental post-rock music, collaborative songwriting in bands, composition of works for classical players, creation of ambient, experimental and electronic music, creation of music for film, and I even some experience in beat-making. I have written songs, I have written orchestra pieces, I have worked as a DIY home producer, I have released albums, and I've performed in concert halls, rock venues, squats and festivals. I My music has been performed in and has taken me to several countries, including Portugal, The Czech Republic, The U.S.A., Canada, Korea, Greece, The U.K., The Netherlands. My Teaching style: My emphasis is to teach you based on your interests and your needs. The lessons are based around each individual student. You bring me the music you are creating and the skills you want to develop as a songwriter, and I build my lessons around that. My primary goal is help you develop your voice as a songwriter, so the starting point for our lessons will always be your music, and then I build our lessons around that. My aim is always to help you find what the heart of the song is about, and help you to bring this out and really make it shine. To help illustrate ideas about topics we discuss I will bring examples that can help inform the music you are creating, we will explore ideas of arrangement, orchestration, band leading and / or production to help flesh out your songs, and we will explore music theory too when that is helpful for us and / or if that is interesting to you. For more experienced songwriters we can explore how to write parts for other players, how to notate and orchestrate songs for acoustic instruments, how to record songs, or how to get the best playing out of your bandmates to help your song shine

Singing: I help you discover and develop your true vocal sound. I've adapted Classical voice techniques to modern pop and contemporary singing to make it effortless. I treat the voice as an instrument, and help you train it in a way that you have freedom to sing whatever genre and style you like. What to expect in a lesson: -Warmups (general vocal stretching, and some specifically targeting the weak points in your voice) -Sing me a song of your choice for me to evaluate and assess your specific weaknesses and address a vocal protocol for them. -We then break down the song into sections and address each issue head-on to find the right technical solution right away. -Solutions are effective, practical, and easy to use (especially with some practice). Songwriting: I walk you through the process of writing, how to turn your feelings into words and melody, and sometimes, I write it with you! The goal is to help you better express yourself. What to expect in a songwriting session: -We will have some personal chats so I can help you write something therapeutic (if that is how you would like to use songwriting, otherwise we can keep it light) -I will type out key words and phrases from our conversation. -We will then look over all the text, and start forming lyrics with whatever stands out and inspires you. -We will practice some improvisation, and learn some basic theory to assist with the writing. -Then I will guide you to putting everything together into a song. Artist Development: I work with you to help create a vision for your artist project, develop clarity of brand, musical identity, awareness of how to protect your music, and how to find purpose in your passion. What to expect with artist development and mentorship: -In this process, I will pretty-much become your friend. The better I know you and your interests, the better I can help you get on the right path. -I help you organize your ideas and thoughts -Ask you really reflective questions to identify key elements for your brand and artistry. -I advise you around the do's and dont's of the industry, networking, looking for team, choosing your producer, collaborators, how to set yourself up as an artist, etc

Trusted teacher: Hi there! Do you want to learn to sing? Well look no further :-) Within your first few lessons, you will be singing in ways you never thought you could! If you are a beginner, we will unlock and overcome any challenges you are facing with singing, and if you are more advanced, we will work on giving you a wide variety of dynamic and style, to break any habit or tendencies to always sing the same way. No matter your level, we will work to build your own unique voice using your own natural nuances and ways that you emote. We will work to build soul and power to your voice! Finally, I specialize in edgy genres of music such as Rock, Alternative, and Metal! If you are interested in learning to add grit, distortion, compression and/or to scream safely, I can teach you this as well! I also have a huge background in classical, musical theater, jazz and R&B. Riffing and agility with technical accuracy are something I personally love working on, and will share tips and tricks to help you fly through notes effortlessly! Q&A: CAN ANYONE LEARN TO SING? The answer is YES. Depending on physicality, practice and time... everyone in their own time span can learn to sing efficiently and with power and emotion. I THINK I´M TONE-DEAF: Well, guess what? There is no such thing! Not being able to match pitches on command has nothing to do with inability or some kind of ¨disorder¨. It´s about muscle memory... we will learn this. I ALWAYS END UP SINGING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER OR SOUNDING THE SAME WAY... We will bust things like imitation and only singing the same riffs over and over, by building aware of how your own natural voice works and applying it to your singing voice. I HATE THE SOUND OF MY OWN VOICE! Well guess what? So do I! So does everyone, even professionals.. and listening back to recordings.. YUCK! (at first).. Everyone is their own worst critic. However, we can learn to analyze your own with a technical ear instead of a critical ear, as well as focus on how the notes feel, and the better they feel the better they will sound... trust me :) In our classes you will learn to sing with ease and, make what was once a challenge to you, very easy! I encourage versatility because I am a highly versatile singer 😊 We address breath support, sound placement, tone, pitch, muscle memory, flexibility, range, diction, dynamic and performance. I am a very technical teacher and I explaim everything in great detail and you will receive notes in an email each week with directions and exercises from the previous lesson. Overall, I LOVE to work with students of all styles and backgrounds, and will challenge those interested in developing technical skill, or ROCK OUT with and just have fun! I look forward to working with you!

Trusted teacher: As a writer and educator I am primarily focussed on lyrical craft and the creative process. My time at ICMP endowed me with a wealth of tools and methods to sharpen the technical craft of a song to maximise its potential and I learned how to harness the creative process in the most conducive ways to bring the best out of any given songwriter. I'm a big believer in constantly writing and sharing so I set weekly briefs to encourage you to write in new ways and then give detailed and constructive feedback that will help you grow. I know from experience that sharing new songs can be unnerving so I take a lot of care helping people overcome this hurdle. Solo sessions are catered towards your individual needs to help you achieve personal goals: whether this be helping you overcome periods of block, write more engaging lyrics, structure exciting chord progressions, find fresher rhymes, or establish your artistic voice/sound. Weekly briefs will challenge you to become the unique writer you want to be. Group sessions focus on a weekly theme that help students sharpen specific areas of their writing (eg. rhyme, imagery, structure, chord theory, melodies, etc) and have A&R style group feedback sessions in which students can play their work to the group and get instant feedback from their peers on how they can develop. Outside of classes, I'm open to discuss songs, technique, career goals, co-writing, learning resources or whatever else will help you develop as a songwriter.

Ivan
After the first few lessons I can say that Ivan is serious about his craft. His lessons are tailored to the needs of the student and he pays a lot of attention to technique and good posture, which for a beginner guitar player like myself is especially important. On top of that Ivan is just a very nice guy, easy to talk to and able to explain concepts and theory in an understandable way.

Yoichi
Yoichi is an amazing pianist. As someone with no experience playing Jazz, I found the first lesson very helpful. He brought lead sheets and explained how Jazz music is performed, walked me through some chord structures and gave me some structure for developing a practice routine. He was also very accommodating about our meeting location. I'm looking forward to future lessons with him.

Rod
Rod made me feel comfortable straight away and his tuition was clear and patient. Before this first lesson, which was online, Rod asked the style and genre of music I was interested in and structured the lesson around that. I learnt new techniques and I’ve booked a further lessons. I have no hesitation in recommending Rod.
