IB Biology and Chemistry SL/HL Tutoring for IB Students

The IB science subjects can be really challenging, especially if they are at higher level. In this classes you will be able to ask any doubts or to expand your knowledge on how to ace the subjects of Biology and Chemistry at higher and standard level for the IB exams, by practicing with past papers, revising and creating your own notes and diagrams.

A couple of things I like to do:

- Initial test or interview to assess your level.
- Use mock papers that lay out the exercises JUST like in the real exams, so you will feel really prepared.
- If the lessons are once a week, or we have a big gap on weekends, I would like to give some homework.
- I provide any kind of mentoring and college counseling. People who study Biology and Chemistry usually want to pursue a clinical career-- and that is a complex process!
- I like using my Chemistry and Bio books for diagrams and summaries.

Extra information

I will provide the necessary materials but you should bring a notepad for note taking and doing exercises in class.

About Me

Biochemistry, maths, robotics, English and Spanish teacher who just proudly graduated with a 42 in IB :D

My classes are dynamic although if you need something more lecture-y I can do that too. I love allegories and real life examples, mnemonics, and pretty diagrams. They kept me going throughout high school. And I do share the notes and give homework as needed.

What I love most about teaching is when my students let me share their pride when they get the grades they wanted, and when they also call me to help with something more extracurricular (which calculators to buy, book recommendations...), it really shows trust and on top of everything else, motivation to learn, which is my main goal.

Education

I graduated last year from Newton College studying the IB and now I am taking a gap year doing research in UMH's Institute of Neuroscience. I have the CPE (C2) English diploma and the IB diploma.

Experience / Qualifications

I have been a teacher for three years now, started with younger children but now I'm used to adults and teens and children of many ages. What this experience has taught me is that people sometimes just need someone that caters to them academically and just molds to the way their brain works. More often than not, the youngest children just needed someone to help them simplify and focus, and the teens actually needed more help with study techniques and learning to learn than understanding the actual knowledge. But there is diversity in that too!

What I mean is that whatever your needs are, from a 30 minute doubt to a months long plan to get an A in your final maths test, don't be afraid to contact me. Every moment counts towards your future!
Time management techniques, tricks for reading, all maths topics… those are just some of the few things we will cover in the class. My preferred method is that when you already know 80% of what you need to know, we can move on to practice full tests.

Tuition in Biology up to IGCSE, GCSE, S5, secondary or similar level students
(Note: Please note that the first message sent by Parents/Students to the tutors is firstly checked by Apprentus and hence it might take as long as 1 day to come to my inbox. But I usually send the reply within 10-30 minutes, which might take another day to go back to the parents/students. Therefore, please allocate a maximum of 2 days for our first conversation.) Biology course taught by engineering graduate who has more than 8 years of experience in teaching mathematics (up to undergraduate level), Biology (Upto Secondary Level, IGCSE, GCSE, S5) and Physics and Chemistry (Upper Secondary levels, IB, A level). Private lessons in biology - life sciences
Undergraduate student in life science offers private lessons in biology. My goal is to make the student understand the course and to make it progress. I base myself on the student's course, which I will supplement with additional information if necessary.

Math, statistics, physics, chemistry lessons, by videoconference - secondary level - FR1
90% of my students don't have an iPad. Just like me. It works fine on a PC. You can buy a WACOM to write with a stylus, instead of a mouse. No camera needed. I'm doing screen sharing. The students see directly what I write on the screen. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- With me you will love math. Boss math, I had 100% in math during my primary and secondary. Selected every year for the Belgian Mathematical Olympiad, I also participated in other competitions where I was very well ranked at the national level. For me, there is no secret: practice, practice, practice ... The more you practice, the better you understand, the results will improve and you will love this material that is not so witch My pedagogy is flexible, I adapt to the student. Beyond repeating the classical theory, I explain things differently so that the student can understand better. I also like to accompany the student to do math exercises, so that the student can continue alone after my departure. Personalized math course for all types of needs - improve school results - special math & logic / reflection game during the holidays - preparation for the entrance exam for a new school / university

Chemistry based University courses (Kinetics, Thermodynamics, NMR, Polymers, Materials, Organic...)
-A general chemistry course may cover basic topics such as atomic structure, molecular structure, chemical bonding and acids and bases. Students may also learn about biological chemistry, organic chemistry and nuclear chemistry. -A physical chemistry course consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part covers the first and second law, chemical equilibrium, thermodynamics of mixtures. Basic knowledge about electrochemical cells.

Math/Physics/Chemistry courses given by an experienced teacher and engineer (EN/FR)
An experienced teacher, I tailor my course on the specific needs of my students, so they can reach the desired level in math/physics/chemistry as quickly as possible. My approach is practical, and goal-oriented (examination, certificate, etc.). I give courses to high-school and bachelor level students. I speak French, English, and Dutch. About : An engineer by background ("ingénieur civil"), I have become an education professional with a significant experience teaching math, physics and chemistry both in the classroom (lycée Mater Dei, Woluwé-Saint-Pierre), and outside the classroom. I resolve issues that students have for instance because of pre-existing learning gaps, or difficulties to understand the complex aspects of scientific courses in the classroom.
