* John studied music at the University of Oxford, which included world-class tutorials in composition and theory across a variety of genres. Having achieved distinction in his LTCL diploma in classical piano and grade 8+ in violin, he has taken numerous exams, for which a solid understanding of musical theory has been essential.

* This class is useful for anyone wishing to take ABRSM or other boards' theory exams, or as a supplement for anyone taking GCSE or A Level music. It is recommended, though not essential, to travel to John's house in the case that students do not have a piano or keyboard.

من أنا؟
Having read music at the University of Oxford, John is now a freelance composer, performer of piano and keyboards, and teacher of theory and piano with a healthy dose of zeal for all things music. He is an accomplished classical pianist, having achieved a high distinction in his LTCL diploma recital, the culmination of several years of intense lessons and residential courses in London funded by the PianoMan scholarship. He received Grade 8 distinction on violin at the age of 14, going on to take it further at the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department during sixth form. He won the West Suffolk Young Musician Award on piano, and was a finalist on both instruments.

He has performed in a range of settings, such as Oxford's 02 Academy and Truck Fest with his jazz-electronic band Wandering Wires; at London's UBS Centre where he performed Mozart's Double Piano Concerto; and in many orchestras, including the National Children's Orchestra and the Oxford University Orchestra. He is also a keen jazz pianist, having founded a jazz-electronic quartet with whom he is currently touring, and has been twice accepted onto the National Youth Jazz Collective's summer schools.

He is a hardworking, patient and inspiring teacher who enjoys seeing his students make progress. He aims to be professional and relaxed, making sure students have fun, and are challenged to achieve the best that they are capable of. John has taught multiple instrumental and theory lessons, and likes to teach through a sufficient degree of repetition, making sure that students gain a solid grasp of any given principle before moving onto the next.
