I have certificates in TEFL from both Universitat de Barcelona and University College Cork and have taught English professionally in France, Spain and Italy. I have extensive experience with a variety of age groups, from as young as 3 years old right into adulthood. For two years I taught in an Official Language School in Palma de Mallorca, Spain where I gave classes to students aged 16+ and where I specialised in conversational and project based methodologies. I also delivered classes with a language academy in Padova, Italy where I specialised in adolescent instruction using project based methodologies.

I have been working with the European Parliament for the past year where I have specialised in Regional Development and Women's Rights policy issues. I also possess honours Bachelors Degrees in both European Studies and Hispanic Studies awarded by University College Cork, making me ideal if you're seeking to improve your English for academic or professional reasons.

I have extensive experience with delivering classes to children - I try my best to engage with play and creative methods as far as possible. I've kept strong bonds with the majority of my former 'young' students and it's been such a pleasure to see some of them grow into adolescence with almost fluent English.

I speak French to B2 level and Spanish to C1 level with basic Italian, Portuguese and Catalan, but try to deliver my classes with as much English as possible so as to facilitate target language goals.

About Me

I'm a 25 year old Irish girl who is passionate about languages and European policy. I'm the oldest in a large family with much younger siblings, which means I get along with and work well with kids.

My teaching style is unique and very 'me' - I'm chatty and extremely creative! I love cooking, writing and photography, and I love to plan my classes with a very creative, project based methodology. In addition to politics I also adore pop culture - TV, film, music... and I love using these things in my classes!

I'm an extremely positive person, and do my absolute best to guide and encourage my students in every step of my journey.

(One of my proudest moments as a teacher was when a 14 year old student asked if she could impersonate me in our school's final talent show, but refused to show me her impersonation. She got onstage in front of all the parents, and squealed "Oh my God, guys! You're amazing, I love you and I'm so proud of you all! Harry Styles, Harry Styles, Harry Styles!" I think it was a very accurate impersonation.)

I have taught English in both public schools and private academies in France, Spain and Italy as well as working in the private sector, notably for Disneyland Paris. I have been working at the European Parliament in Brussels for the past year where I worked on Regional Development and Women's Rights policy, and have worked extensively with youth on these issues.

My most notable experience is the two years I spent working with the Escola Oficial d'Idiomes in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, a public school dedicated to language instruction for adults. I've been teaching English to small children up to teenagers at École Française Internationale. I give lessons for beginners and intermediate levels. I mix between French and English so the pupil doesn't get too confused, but also allows them to understand every detail.

For beginners, we usually talk about our surroundings, what's close to us and what affects us on a daily basis. (Numbers, directions, the weather, asking simple questions, what's a noun and pronoun and where to put them in a sentence). I like to find playful activities so that the pupil/student is in control of their work.
Of course, this is an example for a certain age group, but it also varies depending on their knowledge and their age.

For intermediates, we make basic conversation. Ex: How do you go to school; What do you do in your free time? ; What's the weather like?

The start of the course with a new learner consists of detecting their level by talking about their background, what they already know, what they must master in order to no longer have any gaps. The first lesson also allows the learner to get comfortable and get to know me to establish mutual trust. That’s why I use a touch of my British humor to achieve this. (I generally do this at the start of the lesson with my students to establish a good mood and they are always delighted!) To help the learner better engage with the learning, I will ask them what their passions/hobbies are, this who interests him to arouse interest in learning. I will adapt my lessons on subjects that speak to him more.

Whatever the reason for the course, whether it is to improve oral, written, reading or listening comprehension, I organize audio sessions, readings, everything necessary to deepen in the language.
