My name is Federico and I am a professional and Award Winning saxophone player. I currently work at Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles as an Assistant Professor of Jeroen Van Herzeele the jazz saxophone professor. I graduated at Conservatorio G.Martucci of Salerno (Italy) and had both Bachelor and Master with full marks with honors. During the course of my studies i also spent two academic years abroad , one at the Kask and Conservatorium of Ghent with the supervision of Bart Defoort and one at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Bruxelles with John Ruocco. In 2017 i won the "Massimo Urbani International Jazz Competition" prize that saw as head of the jury Kurt Rosenwinkel & Fabrizio Bosso. I play in several Jazz bands and I have been performing all around Europe. I recorded a solo album called "Right Now" with the famous Italian label "Philology Records" & the album"Supernova" with my own band. I also recorded several albums with different bands and of many styles, from jazz, funk to pop. I toured with the famous Italian Drummer Tullio De Piscopo (Pino Daniele, Mina, Astor Piazzolla's drummer) and also had the chance to make a variety of television appearances on Italian National Television (Rai1, Rai5, Rai3). Intermediate: We can get to improve the technique of the instrument, reading skills, get more precision, speed, sound and timing and musical expression. If you like to work on improvisation we can get to discover how to enjoy improvising with all the technical tools you already learned in the past and enhance that material according to your taste. If you want to start with playing jazz music I can introduce you to first steps and nice and technically comfortable songs to begin with. Advanced: At an advanced level it’s very important to understand the direction you want to take and what you especially want to improve. However I can help you perfectionate sound and timing, rhythm, vibrato, etc..., work on the accuracy of the reading and at the same time make it sound musical and human. On jazz music and/or improvisation, expand the vocabulary for improvising, the knowledge of harmony, what you can do with the material you know from different perspectives, increase precision and sense of direction when phrasing lines, learn more jazz standards, help on original compositions. And of course share all the better understanding of jazz music I learned during my years in New York City.

Hello, My name is Joris, I'm a saxophonist and conductor. As a saxophonist I obtained a Master degree with great distinction from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, won the second prize at the national Lion's European Music Competition and already played as a soloist with orchestras like the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides. I'm currently following a Master degree in Music Theory and Conducting at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. I started conducting when I was 18 and highlights of my career thus far include a selection as one of only 24 candidates for the conducting contest at the World Music Contest Kerkrade last summer. Furthermore I have had the opportunity to work with professional orchestra's like MAV Symphony in Budapest, the North Czech Philharmonic, the President's Own United States Marine Band, the Belgrade Chamber Orchestra amongst others. I teach saxophone, clarinet, flute, harmonica, and bass guitar online(virtually). I think it's very important from the beginning to find your individual voice on your instrument. Technique is important, but it will be taught simultaneously with artistic voice. One of the great things about music is being to express your version of yourself on your instrument. What's the point in learning scales if you can't play the song you want to play? From day one, we will focus on all aspects of learning, and of music, at the same time. I'm super patient and I love to teach, and I'll cater my teaching style to the individual student. I look forward to teaching you! About me: I started playing music when I was I ten. I was awarded a partial scholarship to the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton School of Music where I majored in Classical Saxophone Performance, where I won the Outstanding Jazz Soloist award (2004). I then received a partial scholarship to the Berklee College of Music and studied there with a principal instrument of saxophone, and graduated with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production in 2009. I've spent the last ten years performing full-time, on cruise ships (Carnival, Princess, Holland-America, Celebrity, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, The World), land tours (iLa Mawana national tour), theatre productions (For The Record: The Brat Pack, Broadway's After Midnight), and independent bands (Samsaya Trio, Vivian Clement Quartet). My performing experience has taken me to 70 countries and all seven continents. I've self-recorded and self- produced multiple albums. I've been featured as an arranger in many settings, including Robert McFletcher's LOVE. I have three of my own shows (A Public Saxophone and other Bedtime Stories, Just Sax, and CBSAXLIVE). While I studied saxophone as my primary instrument, I also play flute, clarinet, harmonica and bass guitar at a professional level. My degree is in composition and recording/production, so I would love to help anyone getting started in that area. I also teach music theory for those interested in learning theory.

In the classes we will address the different elements that make up music in different styles, knowing the particular language of each one. To do this, we will work on the different tools that we have with each instrument at the level at which each one is. We all know music but many times they make us believe that no, that it is necessary to know how to read and write. That is the graphic part of the language that we will learn little by little, music is a compendium of many other things. Some that we already know and others to know. We will study the use of the keys and the positions of the clarinet, or the sax, the best way to position ourselves whether we play standing or sitting, the most efficient way to use the air, the diaphragm, the muscles. We will learn to form a good embouchure and we will develop a study method adapted to each one, according to their tastes, possibilities and interests. I work with boys and girls from different parts of the world as well as with adults and the elderly. In my experience I learned that, truly, the greatest limitation that we find ourselves is the very feeling of not being able, of believing that we cannot.
