Hiya!
I am a PhD student at the university of Porto. I gotta be honest, I did not have the best academic qualifications as a young engineer doing my B.sc. years ago. So, studying for a M.sc. in Bologna on a scholarship was a dream come true. I had to work very hard just to be on the acceptable levels. But things change for the best when you realize your strengths. I learned to invest in my abilities rather than feeling sorry for my insufficiencies. I gave more space to what I was good at, instead of focusing on what was forced on me. I think the best way to learn anything is to teach it! Ironically, that is how I managed to really, objectively, slay my English exams.

Learning English with a PhD student; get ready for the essays!

Hello everyone,

I am PhD student in Porto. All my life I've been helping out and proof-reading colleagues' works, or just motivating them to be the best version of themselves. I have advised students and helped them achieve their goals, e.g., going abroad for their studies, helped them through steps of applications, publications, and so on. I have also supervised a Master's student working on his thesis at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). I believe it is time that I expand my circle and reach out to help other people as well.
Therefore, I will be able to help with your English needs; specifically, if you need it for academic success. My class will include everything from basic conversations you want to have with a friend casually, all the way to the submission of your first paper. My TOEFL iBT score was 115 (98th percentile) in 2016! Something that is very manageable to be honest. Furthermore, my analytical writing for the GRE received a 4.5 (82nd percentile) the same year.
