Session details:

Session 1: The session would start with an introduction, notation, pieces points, symbols, and learning about the movements of pieces.
Session 2: This session would include - Attack by rook, attack by bishop, defending an attacked piece, capturing by rook, and capturing by bishop.
Session 3: The class would begin with the arrangement of pieces on the board followed by Lichess id and the moving order of pieces.
Session 4: The kids will be taught special moves. This would include castling and check.
Session 5: The focus of this session would be on different attacks - double attack by rook and bishop, laser attack, and skewer attack.
Session 6: The focus of this session would be on checks - Check by rook, check by bishop, check by knight, and check by queen.
Session 7: Kids will learn how to defend themselves in chess - defend check by moving it to a safe square, defend check by capturing attacking piece, defend check by blocking check, and lastly Checkmate.
Session 8: Five opening principles will be taught followed by Stalemate and Fork by knight.
Session 9: The kids will be taught about the World championship guide 1-4 and the Special move pawn promotion.
Session 10: The kids will learn to mate in one move by rook, queen, bishop, knight, and pawn.
Session 10: The class would end with the kids learning the queen checkmate, revision, and clearance of doubts.

Hi, my name is Gabriel. I'm the head coach of the chess team of the National University of Mexico (UNAM) since 2010. I speak fluent English as I lived six years in Oxford, England, when I was a child and I practice it since then.

With the UNAM's team I have obtained the following titles:

My name Is Camilo and I am an Experienced international chess player that speaks English, French, and Spanish. I am a 1700+ rated chess player that has participated in clubs and tournaments throughout my career with 5 years of tutoring experience. Being trilingual has allowed me to teach people from all over the world. I first began by helping children with their French and Spanish as well as their organizational skills. However, I ended up gravitating toward my passion which is chess. I have various courses and modules prepared for each session. I also adapt very well to the level of experience of each student and what their goals are. Over three years I have developed a syllabus for my students, which includes: lesson 1 Chess Board and Pawn movement, Lesson 2 Review of Pawns, Lesson 3 The Bishops, Lesson 4 the Rooks, lesson 5 the Knights and the Queen, Lesson 6 the King and Checkmate, Lesson 7 Pawn Promotion and Stalemate, lesson 8 Castling, Lesson 9 Drawn games, lesson 10 Checkmate, Lesson 11 opening principles, and the Lesson 12 forking. This method has shown to help all of my students but as I said before I am happy and very capable of adapting to each student. This, of course, means that for my more advanced students I have a different syllabus for them more advanced lessons like for example “Pinning”. I also always prepare a puzzle for each session to challenge my students in various ways.

I love tutoring because I am still young and therefore tend to develop great relationships with my students. Chess is of course my passion so joining both is a dream of mine. I tend to teach younger students from ages 6-18 but don't mind other age groups. I worked with children that went to my old school which is the Lycee Francais de New York.

Chess is a fun game that starts with the basic rules and moves through the 3 parts of the game: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame.

The focus at first is to teach you how the pieces move, what the goal of the opening is, and how the pieces interact. You will also learn the vocabulary related to chess and chess notation.

Tactics are then explored to take advantage of hanging pieces, lack of king safety, space, and tempo. From here depending on what your personal goals are we will adapt the classes to cover what will help you progress.

I am an experienced chess player and teacher, with many tournament victories in Japan, where I currently reside. My rating is around 2000 FIDE, and I am comfortable teaching students from absolute beginner level up to about 2000 FIDE, both online and face-to-face (depending on location).

I can teach lessons in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, upon request. I can also teach in Japanese, at a basic level, though due to my mediocre Japanese language ability, some slight misunderstandings may occur during classes.

The classes are customized according to the needs of the student. For instance, with beginners, the focus is on tactics, pattern recognition, and learning basic opening principles, endgames, and stategy. For advanced players, the coaching is much more personalized, and may focus on aspects such as identifying and improving their specific weaknesses, or helping them refine their opening repertoire for an upcoming tournament.

I am happy to discuss the needs of each student at length before starting classes, and regardless of what we agree on, I expect my students to make their best efforts during the classes and hope to really challenge them to think deeply about the material.
