Hi, my name's Serban.
I'm a professional drummer/percussionist with 22 years experience performing live in rock and symphonic orchestras across Europe. My qualifications, teaching experience, passion and long standing dedication to drumming, started at 12 years of age, and I started my musicianship at 6, learning the piano.

I am a friendly and professional music teacher who loves helping my students experience the joy of music. Whether you're already a competent player or an absolute beginner, technique and musicianship will be at the forefront of your lessons with me. My aim is to transmit my passion and love for music to you, and help you develop, and have a great time doing so.
My students are always encouraged to perform their pieces in such a way that even the most basic are a pleasure to listen to.

Șerban is a professional percussionist/drummer with 22 years of experience performing live in rock and symphonic orchestras. His qualifications, teaching experience, passion and long standing dedication to these wonderful instruments hold him in good stead. He started learning and playing music aged 6, as a pianist. Serban is a friendly and professional music teacher who loves helping others experience the joy of music.
Serban's students are always encouraged to perform their pieces in such a way that even the most basic ones are a pleasure to listen to, not merely a collection of notes that don't say anything.

He aims to pass on his own passion and love for music to his students, help them both develop their skills and have a great time doing so! Serban firmly believes in the importance of music lessons being enjoyable and rewarding, so he encourages the students to learn to play the songs and music they love.
Șerban is capable to teach all genres of music. Starting with classical, funk, rock, pop, latino and jazz.
His specially trained in classical music but his knowledge for all kind of genres is unlimited.
Șerban is very versatile when teaching beginners. He particularly likes the way students perceive the art of playing drums as a way to be creative and have fun at the same time.
The first lesson can be a bit intimidating, but Serban knows how to introduce the student to the world of drums in a friendly manner! He will also get to know the student a bit more and focus on the student's goals for lessons

In all cases, I adapt to each student on:

- the form: I am flexible and can use alternatives to music theory for those who are resistant to it (for example, by making a video of the summary of what was seen, by re-explaining orally and by re-performing the exercises on the drums))

- the background: I always adapt to the wishes of the student if he knows what he wants

The most important thing for me is to make things seemingly complicated -> simple to understand and to execute, while making sure that I direct the student in the direction he wants to take, and that he takes fun to learn

The goal is to regularly cover pieces of music in order to put the things learned in a purely musical context.

Regardless of the course chosen, I accept all means of payment, as well as CESUs. The latter is very interesting for the employer (yourself) because it will allow him to benefit either from a tax reduction, or from a tax credit if it is not taxable (50% of the amount courses in the year deducted from taxes or credited in taxes the following year)

Hello,

I offer drums lessons in a warm place or at your home. Come and discover the battery differently. My mission is to help you develop your own identity on the instrument. I offer you a fun approach that focuses on the pleasure of playing.

Having followed training and courses throughout my life (conservatory, schools ...), I am passionate and dedicated to sharing all of my experience with you. I practice in many music groups and other structures (schools, associations ...).

With more than 20 years of experience in drums and more than 10 years in percussion, I teach many musical genres (jazz through Latin music, pop, hip hop, rock, hard, punk, metal ..) , the double pedal, notions of music theory, rhythmic reading. Possibility of taking percussion lessons (darbuka, bongos, African djembe, congas, jaw harp, dhol).

The programs are directly inspired by internationally recognized methods, thus being able to adapt to the needs, levels and requirements of each individual. I travel but I also receive in a room with equipment available (any age and level of practice are allowed, from initialization to professionals).

A different approach to music lessons:
My teaching is resolutely modern. Classes are a moment of musical and human sharing where error is used as a positive experience to move forward.

We work by oral transmission to complete the scores. We use onomatopoeia to quickly develop musical and felt play, rather than just reading and playing.

Techniques, phrase development, solo, accompaniment, odd rhythms and creation of your own sound.

We will cover traditional rhythms from Turkey, the Balkans, Egypt. I can teach darbuka and bendir from beginner to advanced level. Riq, indian tabla, konnakol, cajon, daf, indian tabla and percussion set ups can also be taught

The course method, inspired by the Agostini school (French method used in French and Belgian academies and conservatories) is divided between technique and drums. At the rate of one session each we will focus once on technique and movements outside the drums (on pads) and the other time on the drums and the application of technique and movements.

-> The technique lessons and the movements will be those of the so-called 'Moeller technique' that I learned through his direct lineage of student.
-> The drum lessons are greatly inspired by the pedagogy of the M.A.I. (Music Academy International - Nancy (fr)) and in particular that of Richard-Paul Morellini, renowned instructor.

The courses are complete, in-depth but above all specifically thought of to be progressive. They are suitable for children from 7 years old as well as adults of all ages.

=> Particular attention is paid to the movements and their correct application, to the total independence of the limbs and finally to an understanding of the rhythm and its theory. My main goal is to give the student complete control behind the drums and skills to be able to self-learn any piece in any musical style. 1 hour of weekly lessons are never enough, they should only be used to fuel the passion that will make you play at home more and more.

On demand or for advancs students:
- I am very passionate about the study of South American rhythms. Due to their complexity, apart from the samba and Baïon ostinatos, they are not included in the program before the advanced level. They can be at the request of the student.
- I am also specialized in metal (musical style) and double pedal. The latter is not included in the program unless requested by the student. The double pedal courses are based on the methodology of Virgil Donati.

Technique:
* Moeller technique (the 'whipping motion' - the Free stroke -Full/Half/Low stroke - accepting the rebound - its application etc.)
* Snare rudiments and their applications through reading systems
* Readings of scores and exercises for the snare drum
* Speed drills
* Military marches
* Control of the different subdivisions (quarter notes - eighth notes - triplets - sixteenth notes - quintuplets - sextuplets - triple eighth notes - nonolets etc.)
* Displacement of accents and polyrhythms
* On request, double pedal technique (application of the Moeller to the double pedal as well as everything listed above but with the feet)

* Bass drum reading and independance

* Applications of ghost notes
* The 16 sixteenth-notes ostinatos
