About Me

I'm a 61-year-old granny. I studied at the French Mission in Casablanca. I lived in Italy for over 25 years, where I taught French, Moroccan darija and Arabic dance. I also worked in the social sector after graduating in cultural mediation. I returned to Morocco in 2012 for family reasons, where I resumed freelance teaching.
I'm good at understanding students' difficulties because I have a background in psychology and I have a sort of 6th sense. I'm always looking for and trying out new and different ways of facilitating learning. I support the student psychologically and do everything in my power to encourage them to do more and better. In my teaching style, everything about the learner is important: age, level of study, own abilities, difficulties, environment, life experience, context... I never set myself up for failure as long as the learner wants to make an effort to learn.

Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages.

The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).

At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
