I started my journey of learning how to shuffle/cut shapes a little over a year and a half ago and it ignited a flame of passion in me like nothing had in a very long time. I'd say it's turned into a somewhat spiritual experience for me. Although there is of course still a lot for me to learn and improve on and I feel like my journey has just started, I feel confident that I can help others get started on their own journey. My fundamentals as well as my knowledge and understanding of the dance are pretty solid and I would never try to teach you something that is outside of my expertise. I am Daniela, Colombian, psychologist, coach and dance teacher for 14 years. I have experience giving private and group lessons in salsa, hip hop, jazz, classical dance and creating and learning choreography for weddings or other events. The course lasts one hour and you can choose to do the lessons alone or as a couple. The class begins with a body warm-up to activate the muscles, the brain and get into "salsa mode" (or the style you want to dance). Then, depending on the level, I offer exercises to understand and learn rhythm, basic movements or more complex steps or tricks. We end with a moment of improvisation, which helps to strengthen not only knowledge of dance, but also self-confidence, communication with the partner and the ability to learn from mistakes and improvise. While rhythm is a core element of strong musicianship, developing a solid rhythmic foundation through voice and body is sometimes completely overlooked. In particular, the use of voice and body — key to embodiment — is neither automatic nor self-evident as a way to internalize rhythm, and too often reading rhythmic solfège is the only path explored. In these lessons, we will practice rhythm through the understanding and application of Konnakol (South Indian Carnatic rhythmic solfège) alongside other techniques and approaches, in order to conceive of rhythm in different ways and integrate it into performance. We will work on rhythmic freedom and embodiment, internal pulse and timing, subdivisions and grouping, phrasing and patterns displacement, cross-rhythms, odd meters, and different feels. You will come away with new ideas, improve your timing, greater independence in your playing, and obtain a set of tools to practice self-sufficiently. Be(at) the Rhythm is designed for both singers and instrumentalists who want to better embody rhythm, enlarge their vocabulary of rhythmic concepts, and improve overall rhythmic awareness. The practice of Roller Dance is a completely independent street art with very few rules. If you are a lover of "quads" (roller skates) that you dream of sliding on the asphalt with your hair blowing in the wind and that you like old school culture, you've come to the right place;) I suggest for beginners (first time or not yet comfortable) to gain confidence on roller skates thanks to balance exercises as well as basic steps and tips to safely learn the basics of Roller Dance. For the intermediate level (you hold on well on your skates) I suggest learning the most emblematic steps of this discipline, which have made the reputation of Roller Dance all over the world, you will be able to do sequences yourself and why not improvise in the evening. For the advanced level (you already know how to dance on roller skates) I suggest that you make your movements more fluid by correcting the posture and by incorporating the arms, to take steps at a higher level, but also to help you create your own "routine" (small loop representing your signature)
