Since 2021, I’ve been teaching vocals and songwriting, and facilitating music and creative workshops in classroom settings, nonprofits, and refugee centres.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Songwriting from BIMM London, I travelled to Berlin, Athens, and Dublin, where I collaborated with gifted musicians and worked as a teacher and workshop facilitator. I set up my own creative workshop programme for Ukrainian children in Berlin and completed a Creative Therapy course as part of my work with refugees in 2022. In 2024, I finished my MA in Community Music and am now co-directing a nonprofit called Gathering Futures that focuses on community music and asset-based community development.

I view teaching vocals and songwriting as a therapeutic, holistic process, where my students learn techniques and practical tools that help them hone their craft but also work through psychological blockages that make them into greater artists.

I have degrees in Songwriting and Community Music, worked as a singing teacher, choir leader, and workshop facilitator, and participated in a wide variety of feedback sessions for songwriters. I have co-written songs with different artists, released my own music, and have been active as a singer-songwriter for over ten years. I was born in Aleppo, and I grew up in Damascus, Syria. I started playing music at the age of eleven. I chose the Oud as my instrument because my father used to play it everyday at home when I was young. 1- Organic causes: physiological voice disorders that result from alterations in respiratory, laryngeal, or vocal tract mechanisms.

A) Structural: organic voice disorders that result from physical changes in the vocal mechanism, such as:
- Polyps.
- Vocal Nodules.
- Edema
- Cysts on the vocal cords, growths that aren't cancer.

B) Neurogenic causes: organic voice disorders that result from problems with the central or peripheral nervous system innervation to the larynx that affect functioning of the vocal mechanism, such as:
- Vocal tremor.
- Spasmodic dysphonia.
- Vocal fold paralysis.
- Vocal cord paralysis or weakness.

2- Functional causes: voice disorders that result from inefficient use of the vocal mechanism when the physical structure is normal, such as:
- Vocal fatigue.
- Muscle tension Dysphonia or Aphonia.
- Diplophonia.

In Oud, we will focus on:

Musical Maqams: Deepen your understanding of Arabic Maqams and how to apply them to playing. Musical Notes: Learn to read and perform notes on the oud with skill. Pick Exercises: Improve playing techniques using a pick to develop movement between the strings. Technique Exercises: Build playing skills through various exercises to improve speed and accuracy. Oriental Songs: Learn to play the most famous oriental tunes and songs to be able to give a distinctive performance. In guitar, we will learn:

Technique Exercises: Exercises to develop left and right hand speed, focusing on accuracy and transition between chords. Musical Pieces: Learn to play different pieces from a variety of styles including Eastern and Western songs.

In oriental singing, we will learn:

Vocal Techniques: Exercises to strengthen and improve the voice, with an emphasis on breathing techniques and larynx control. Oriental Performance: Learn how to perform famous oriental songs, paying attention to the tones and subtleties that characterize Arabic singing. Control of vocal pitches: Develop the ability to move between vocal pitches easily, whether in high or low melodies.
