I am Phoebe, originally from London in the UK, however, I have lived in many places such as Fiji, Australia, Scotland, various places in England, and now in Finland! I am a PhD researcher who is specialising in Arctic marine ecology with a solid background in marine science and ecology.

Now, I am on this website in the hope to share some of the knowledge and skills I have accumulated over the years and passing them on to you in a calm manner, with no pressure, and fun, easy-going one-on-one sessions. As a scientist, you have to know many skills (not just the science!), and so I have represented a few of the necessary skills here on my page to help you in your early scientist careers.

Thinking about marine biology as a career? Or do you have a general interest in marine biology and all the amazing life living in our oceans? Becoming a scientist? Statistics and coding skills are an important part of your everyday job. Learn early, practice, and with no time you will be flying through your data analyses before everybody else. Using coding software such as R allows you to interpret and analyse meaningful data and plot beautiful graphs using base R or multiple libraries.
I will teach you the basic syntax of R, how to understand and 'think' like R, and build on those skills to do more complicated statistics (ANOVA's, PCA, GLM's, mixed-effects models, etc.) and - the most important(!) - how to plot beautiful graphs!

Based on my 13 years of experience, I think that A1 level is a very important period in language learning. When learning any language, beginner level students should learn it in the correct order and important details should be explained well by practising previous ones. Students at more advanced levels, such as A2, B1 or above, also need to practice their skills at the previous level thoroughly to improve their language skills. I try to provide good teaching by paying attention to these important points in my lessons. I keep our lessons' notes in a word file.
