This class is for aspiring carers looking to develop their knowledge and understanding of the childcare sector. My goal is to keep students challenged and focused in a relaxed environment. I ask all students to take part in an online personality test during the first session so I am able to provide tutoring which will be specific to the individuals skill set. Some assignments will be given and other learning topics to be researched such as reading for the upcoming session.

As a graduate from Newman University with a Degree in working with Children, Young People and Families I have been fortunate to enhance my career; so far within a variety of positions which has allowed me to ascertain an increased depth of knowledge and skills to work with a differing cliental, ensuring that their specific needs are met.
I currently work full time within a Private Day Nursery as a Deputy Manager. I am also an Early Years Consultant for neighbouring childcare facilities.

I offer activities to keep your children busy and help them learn while playing and increase their level of self-confidence.

Class is based on the individual wishes of clients, depending on what you want for your child: Class A (I prepare various topics/stories for a child to learn about), Class B (Oxford Phonics books - materials that help children to learn correct pronunciation of the letters/words) or A+B Class (recommended for the best results). En este curso recuperamos los estudios sociales de la infancia con el fin de analizar y poner en tensión las categorías hegemónicas de niñez, género y cuidado y así poder pensar en el cuidado de niñeces y adolescencias trans o no binaries dentro de la familia.
Empezaremos indagando antropológicamente sobre la construcción de estas categorías en el imaginario social reconociendo que estas no son universales y estables si no culturales, cambiantes y contingentes.
De esta forma nos proponemos, por un lado, comprender la variabilidad de significados en torno a la concepción de infancia. Por otra parte, será fundamental comprender la centralidad que representa la identidad de género en la vida de los seres humanos en la sociedad occidental. De esta forma, al comprender la infancia de otra manera, podremos desnaturalizar también las prácticas de cuidado tradicionales para así poder introducir otras pedagogías, otras perspectivas en nuestro imaginario.

In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students.

Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English.

My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual.

For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

In my Spanish classes for children, I adapt culture, drawings, films, books... and many other materials that can interest children to learn Spanish.

Soy Graduada en Educación Primaria, con doble mención en Educación Física y Audición y Lenguaje.
