About me: I am a professional pianist with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Piano Performance. I worked at the Royal Academy of Music.
15 years of piano teaching experience with students of different ages.

Hi! My name is Maria and I am here to guide through piano music world 🥰. Whether you are just a completely beginner, or have a bit of knowledge in music, or you want to master your piano skills, I am very excited to help you to achieve your goals.
My professional path as piano soloist performer, accompanist and pianist in chamber music ensembles embraces experience in practicing piano with vast piano repertoire of academic music of most outstanding composers.

Working in different Music Institutions as a teacher or accompanist inspired me enormous and helped me understand that teaching is my passion. One of my conclusions was that besides piano playing one must be prepared to become a student mentor, motivator and give them inspiration.

I'm a qualified piano teacher with over 7 years of experience. I provide easy to follow and joyful lessons for beginners and advanced students. I have experience in ABRSM exams and I'm happy to prepare you. I am applying the Russian piano technique, as I myself have been taught by my Russian teacher who studied at the Tchaikovsky conservatoire.
I understand that not everyone enjoys strict teaching, thus I am flexible enough and can adapt according to my student's needs!

I'm also here for you to teach you how to play the piano and enjoy your music! If you're not into classical music, I can also teach you how to play pop/rock covers and soundtracks

P.S. I normally live in London and can travel to student's houses. However, due to the current CoVid-19 situation, I can only provide online lessons until further notice.

I have instructed students of different age groups in saxophone performance and music theory (including counterpoint, harmony and composition) up until university level, in Spain and the UK. After graduating from Cambridge with a double starred first, taking into consideration my academic results and teaching experience, I have also been selected for inclusion in the Supervisor Registry to teach counterpoint and harmony papers. My approach to lessons is very flexible, and I always try to adapt to the needs and qualities of each student. I believe that communication is essential, and at the beginning of each lesson I ask my students if they found my recommendations from the previous lesson helpful and how they see their progress. After this spoken introduction, we proceed to work on some warm-up and technical exercises. Then, we play some studies and pieces, or go over some music theory exercises, trying to apply the advice from the previous lesson and make further improvements. Finally, we conclude the lesson with a summary, listing the main key points and suggestions and comparing our experience to the previous lessons, trying to find a clear sense of progression and a coherent line of work towards a certain goal. This teleological mindset occupies a central position in my methodology, and I always encourage my students to look ahead and plan a series of stimulating events or challenges to look foward to, such as a concert, a recital, a presentation or an exam.

I have been performing throughout the UK and abroad since the age of 12. I began my education at the Royal Academy of Music and continued at the Royal College of Music in London gaining 3 performance degrees with first class honours. I enjoy teaching and have experience in giving private violin lesson from beginner to advanced levels of varying ages. I have been invited to teach publicly at the University of Costa Rica and am an Ambassador of The Benedetti Foundation. I can also teach students Music Theory i.e. for the purpose of ABRSM exams or GCSE Music

For the more experienced, polyphony and difficult passages can be approached with different tools, by awareness of harmony and melodic modes and polyrhythm. Sometimes it is enough to be aware of simplicity to overcome difficult passages.

I push to go further in the quality of the interpretation with simple means to better understand the music and thus allow more expressiveness and freedom.

One of the parts of teaching I most enjoy is the variety of my students’ backgrounds and finding an individual approach that works best for each student. Two keywords form the base of the singing technique I teach: relaxation and engagement. Inspired by the Alexander technique, we need the body to be completely free from any muscle tension before and after producing a sound. Then, to create a sound of quality, the body also needs to be engaged and free. By releasing all the unnecessary tension, you will be able to sing all the arias of your dreams. I will give some weekly exercises in singing and music theory and we will correct them together during the lesson.
I was part of the choir of the French public radio broadcaster for 7 years. I have a diploma in Music theory from the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt. I even have a degree in Pop music and I am currently finishing my Master's in musical theatre and composition.

Paganini Conservatory of Advanced Music Specialization in Genoa, one of Italy's most prestigious conservatories. My professional life since obtaining my higher diploma from the conservatory has been full filled as pianist soloist, accompanist (lyrical singers, instrumental, ballet) and teacher. Settled for many years on the French Riviera (l'm bilingual) and moved in London during 2015, l weekly perform and l teach to any level. My repertoire is obviously classical but also my daily job is playing for Corporate Event, Dinner Presentations, Cocktails Party and Art Galleries . Stoke Park Country Club Buckinghamshire (Wedding), Brunswick House,Cafe' Royal Regent Street, Westfield Stratford and White City are some of the frequent locations where l usually perform. While my teaching experience mainly focuses on children aged 5-10, I am also well-versed in providing music training and piano lessons for adults. Most lessons are 60 minutes long, but I’m happy to adapt the timing and content based on your needs. Please feel free to get in touch if you're interested in lessons. I am offering private piano tutoring at beginner and intermediate level, for students of any age! My goal is to make you enjoy your playing and I can also help you work towards ABRSM grades if this is what you’re looking for.

I was a classical piano student at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester for 7 years and continued to study music for a year in Paris. I achieved a distinction at grade 8 ABRSM piano (the highest grade available), with 1 year of experience tutoring piano for a child who was 9 years old. However, I also have experience with tutoring in other fields (maths and physics).
