My name is Anne, I completed my B.A. degree in English, my Master degree, and my Ph.D. degree in the UK (Edinburgh University and Manchester University).
I have more than 10 years of private tutoring experience in the fields of English and Chinese. In addition, I have been teaching at the University of Manchester in the UK for more than 4 years in the subjects of Social Science (Economics, Philosophy, and Politics).
My teaching methodology varies, depending on the personality, interests, and needs of the students. I often teach English and Chinese through real-life examples, such as through news, movies, music, and cultural events.
Depending on what you want to learn, we can focus on grammar, sentence structure, vocabularies of a particular topic, or start at the basics learning phonics. Also, if you need professional academic advice on homework or essays at the university or colleges, I will be more than happy to help you out. I am also familiar with editing and proofreading students' resume/ cv/ motivation letter.
My class would be perfect for either adults or children wanting to improve their oral and written English skills. Each class will be personalized to your needs and abilities.
The first class will evaluate your level and then we can start from there to personalize the best lesson plans for you to improve your English or Chinese.

My approach to teaching and supervision is informed by two ideas. First, I believe that teaching English and Chinese is done best when more abstract ideas, such as those about news, arts, music, are discussed with a view to students' interests. Second, I believe in emphasizing the continuity of students' study so that students feel connected to cutting-edge news and world. This can be achieved through my teaching, about which I am passionate.

I got my BA degree in English, then I pursued my MSc degree in Political Science at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK. Finally, I got my PhD in Politics, at the University of Manchester, also in the UK.

I have more than 10 years' experience in teaching English and Chinese. My students are all from different background and they all have different levels of English skills. Some of them are pre-school children, some of them are real-estate brokers, and some of them are working at the pharmaceutical companies in Asia.
