Hello, My name is Andrea. I am a bachelor student studying Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam. Born in a Belgian family, I grew up in Brussels and followed a bilingual education at the Lycée Français Jean Monnet where I got my high school diploma; Baccalaureate (Economic and Social section with International Option of Baccalaureate). In my last year of high school, I tutored a 6-year-old with all her subjects(math, french, dutch and science). Bonjour, I'm of mixed French and Polish origins and I've been living in Paris for many years. I hold a PhD degree in French Literature from Sorbonne University and I've been teaching French and English since 2013. During my class, you will learn how to communicate effectively - and in order to speak, you'll need to practice! I have a passion for French culture, literature, music, film and theatre, and I believe that it's through culture and experiencing the language directly in everyday life that you really immerse yourself in a language. I train also for exams and DELF/DALF. Apart from this, I work as a tour guide specialised in French medieval architecture and a week-end trip to Paris (sightseeing included!) can be planned during the course to immerse in French language, cinema, food and beautiful Parisian museums. Practicing French in French boulangeries, restaurants and bookshops in Amsterdam can be planned as well. If you're interested in more than practicing speaking and pronunciation skills, we can alternate the grammar/writing classes (held at home) and conversation classes (held anywhere!). My classes are meant for everybody, and are given in English and French (I do not speak Dutch yet). During the first class with a new student, I will assess their language skills and level and follow the agreement. I can also adapt if you have particular requests. The classes will be taking place at my apartment, next to the Rijksmuseum. I can also move around Amsterdam if needed.

Hi I'm French. I have just moved to Amsterdam and I offer you my services for French courses. Beginner-school level, for your children or for yourself. I can move or I can give them at home I only speak French and English.

The purpose of this class is to learn french through the french culture and oral conversation. There will be different approaches to learning french : activities related to the French culture (depending on the age and personal preferences), a more conventional method of learning (for grammar for example, if needed), oral conversation (about actuality, the culture, art,...), and possibly the study of books, texts, movies in french. During the class I will mostly speak french, and I consider oral conversation a very important part of the class. If you need to focus on grammar, spelling, or conjugation it is not a problem at all and the exercises will evolve with your specific needs and level. I always estimate your level and the points we need to work on during the first class so we know on what to focus on. If you feel the need to learn even more, I will also give homework such as specific grammar exercises, and I will recommend to you some books to read in french or movies to watch depending on your interests.

This class aims to teach french language through different forms of study rather than a classic academic approach to language learning. For example those methods can be expressed in oral conversations, study of texts, art pieces, or movies in french, and of course more conventional teaching. I believe that a language is learnt better in it's cultural context and applications rather than though a decontextualized approach. If you are interested don't hesitate to ask any question.
