Sandra - The Hague36€
Trusted teacher: Hello parents! My name is Sandra. I am a native English speaker from New York State. I have a USA teaching license and a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Inclusive Education (Grades K-6 and Students with Disabilities) from the State University of New York at Fredonia. My experiences include teaching at primary international schools in Belgrade, Serbia for 2 years and 3 years at international schools in The Hague, Netherlands. I have worked at two IB primary schools. Alongside teaching at international schools, I have 8 years of experience teaching English. I also have experience teaching grade 1 and 3 in elementary schools in New York State. I have taught children from 2-17 years old and adults. My students range in levels from beginners who are new to learning English, to fluent English speakers that need support or would like to further excel or maintain their fluency. Based on my experiences, I have learned to adjust my teaching style based on different students' needs, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and learning abilities. Lessons are provided to children and teenagers. Lessons are customized to the learning needs of your child. Whether that be learning English for the first time or practicing improvement of speaking, reading, comprehension, pronunciation, listening, writing, grammar, etc. Lessons can be aimed towards learning a topic such as food, animals, sports, emotions, and more. For children who are fluent English speakers, tutoring can be given to further excel in particular areas. Subjects that interest the student such as science, history or world topics can be incorporated into the lesson to broaden their knowledge. Support can also be provided in learning organizational skills, research, and mini projects for older children. I am available to help with studying, homework, or school projects. For online learning, I use a variety of platforms, websites, educational games, and e-books to reach the learning goals of my students. Additional homework can be provided if requested. Depending on the students age, lesson duration is adjusted. If you are looking for lessons for siblings, please reach out to me to discuss the best schedule for your children. My aim is to create a positive and enjoyable learning environment for all my students. I hope you can join my English lessons! Please reach out to me if you have any questions. I can provide my resume or reference letters if requested. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Tom - The Hague52€
Trusted teacher: 💬 A customised English pronunciation training course with a dedicated native-speaking coach will enhance your communication skills, boost your confidence, and ensure you can be easily understood in English conversations, presentations and meetings. WHAT WILL I LEARN? 🗣️ Pronunciation for Public Speaking and Conversation is a course that identifies and resolves the issues that make people struggle to understand you. Common issues include: • speaking too fast or slow • having a confusing or flat intonation • missing or overemphasising weak sounds • stressing the wrong parts of words or sentences • not linking sounds together • talking with a rhythm that isn't natural to English We will use a mix of techniques from shadowing and repetition exercises to dramatic readings and real-time speaking practice. We will also use specialist software called Praat so that you can visualise your speech, hear yourself back and make immediate changes to your pronunciation. It's highly effective and pretty fun too! Our goal: make your speech clearer, more expressive, more enjoyable to listen to and easier to follow. WHAT MAKES YOUR LESSONS STAND OUT? First, they’re accessible. In this industry, professional pronunciation training sessions are often priced at €100 an hour or more. That model leaves many people without support. I believe quality teaching shouldn’t be a luxury. Second, they’re personal. Too many pronunciation courses recycle the same generic materials for everyone. I design each lesson around your needs and issues so the time you spend actually moves you forward. Finally, they’re research-based. A lot of pronunciation teaching still relies on outdated methods that don’t reflect what we know about how languages are learned. I use approaches grounded in linguistics and pedagogy, so your effort translates into lasting progress. WHO SIGNS UP FOR AN ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION COURSE? The Pronunciation for Public Speaking and Conversation course is ideal for people who engage in presentations, lectures, speeches or moderating, or simply for people who want to be more confident in everyday conversation. Pronunciation training benefits professionals from a variety of sectors. My clients include consultants, creatives, therapists, lecturers, teachers, performers, bankers, estate agents, hosts, broadcasters, corporate trainers, small business owners, international executives, and facilitators. ⭐ If you are looking for a more comprehensive pronunciation coaching that goes into all the sounds of your accent, please check out my other course on Apprentus, "English Pronunciation and Accent Coaching / Training with a Native Teacher". ABOUT ME My name’s Tom and I’m an English teacher from Southeast England. Now I live in the Hague, Netherlands. I teach English learners how to communicate more clearly. I have taught for various schools and agencies in the Netherlands and been frustrated by the lack of high-quality materials and expertise in the pronunciation teaching field. So in 2021 I set up my freelance teaching business to change the situation. I have over 12 years of teaching experience, and I have a master's degree in Linguistics from Leiden University, with a specialisation in English Linguistics. I am trained in speech analysis software, which is a highly effective (and fun!) tool that helps learners not only hear but also visualise their mistakes. I speak Finnish (my mum's side is from Finland), Mandarin Chinese (I lived in Taiwan for six years) and French (because I love the sound of it). I also know smatterings of other languages like Dutch, Spanish and Japanese. I am also an English language nerd and will happily talk your head off about why British people say "wa'er", what “muscles” have to do with mice, or why English spelling is so beautifully bizarre.

I recently enrolled my daughter (Dutch native) in English lessons with this teacher and I must say, the experience has been fantastic. My daughter has learned so much in the past few weeks and it's all thanks to the teacher's fun and engaging approach to teaching. The lessons are always interactive and my daughter loves them. She looks forward to her English class every week and I can see a noticeable improvement in her language skills. The teacher has a talent for making the lessons enjoyable and my daughter has a great time while learning. I highly recommend this teacher to anyone looking for an enjoyable and effective way to learn English!!!

French Horn (modern/historical) and Music Theory with a professional (The Hague)
Nicolas

rating green star
Nicolas has a friendly approach in his horn teaching backed by his high professional standard with very good ears. His feedback is to the point and focused on building up in small steps for long term improvements. His lesson on resuming practice after a break was very useful, which I’m sure will benefit me repeatedly in future. He also very kindly helped me look for a mouthpiece and instrument, which again was very useful. If/when face to face becomes possible, I’d love to get lessons on historical horn from him!
