This class is for students and professionals looking to improve their English through well-structured and engaging classes with a native English speaker. I hold a degree in public relations with a minor in theater and am currently in Paris completing a Master of Communication at Sciences Po. I have experience working with students of all ages and have tutored courses in the past that included English, mathematics, research in mass communications, and creative writing. My courses are multi-media focused and will help you to quickly improve your comprehension, grammar, and speaking skills in English. I have a C1 level of French, so while English will be used to teach the class, I will also be able to communicate with you in French if necessary.

My name is Emily, and I recently moved to Paris to obtain a Master's degree in Communications at Sciences Po. During my studies, I am hoping to put my tutoring experience and communication skills to practice by offering courses in English for students and professionals. I am originally from South Carolina, USA, but have spent the last two years working in Seattle, Washington. I previously lived in France for 5 months in 2014 when I did a study abroad exchange through my university. I am very excited to be back.
I believe my diverse background and interests are apparent in my style of teaching. I am patient and supportive, which creates a positive atmosphere for learning. I like to use some theater exercises to help students play with language and warm-up their voices for speaking in English. Understanding how the language is used and being able to play with it is one of the keys to feeling comfortable in any speaking situation. I also incorporate some cultural studies into lessons. One of the benefits of learning a new language is all of the cultural experiences that become accessible to you. We will discover music and literature and review these in a context that improves comprehension and listening. I look forward to getting to know my students and helping them reach their goals in learning English.
