Hello! I just finished my Bachelor in Piano and I am looking to teach Piano and Music Theory if requested. I know how important it is to have a good relationship with the piano and the teacher, therefore I am very flexible since every student has different needs. My main goal is to share my knowledge and love for music in a healthy way and I hope you can fall in love with piano just like I did. Hope to see you soon!

I have been playing piano since I was a little girl and I think that it is very important to create a strong and healthy relationship with the instrument through the teacher.
Every student is different, therefore, I am very flexible with my way of teaching depending on the students needs and personality because everyone is stimulated differently and the main goal is learning in a fun way.
I have also taught before, I finished a course of Pedagogical Education that lasted one year and gave private lessons to students of all ages.
I am very patient, mostly because my only goal is to make the students fall in love with piano, just the way I did.

Opleiding

My major in High School was Piano, I finished it with a 17 in Madeira, Portugal. I had several Masterclasses throughout the years, studied one semester in Finland (Erasmus+), and concluded my Bachelor in Piano in Antwerp. My mother was also a music teacher and she passed a lot of information to me.

Leservaring

I taught one student officially during one year, where I was being accompanied by a teacher for my class of Pedagogical Education. Before and After, I also taught a few students privatly.

Foundation
First we start with the music theory, melody and chords. These are the essential building blocks for making music.

Style
Next we apply stylistic tools to bring the music to life. This could include jazz chords, blues riffs, walking bass lines, and more.

Skills

We learn the skills (soloing, ear training, accompaniment, improvisation, lead sheets, analysis...)

Following this approach, you will finally understand the music that you are playing, and you will be able to apply the techniques to hundreds of other songs.

CVT METHOD?

Singing is not that difficult and everybody can learn to sing. CVT divideds the singing techniques into four main subjects. By combining elements of these four subjects, you can produce precisely the sounds you want. You will also be able to pinpoint your specific problems and mistakes, and you can focus on which techniques you wish to work on.

The four main subjects are:

The three overall principles – to ensure healthy sound production
The four vocal modes – to choose the ‘gear’ you want to sing in.
Sound colours – to make the sound lighter or darker.
Effects – to achieve specific sound effects.

I graduated from the KSO of East Flanders as a classical pianist and composer and am now studying at the conservatory of Ghent with Daan Vandewalle. I can perfectly teach someone notes or piano and I already have some experience with this.

My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent.
I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher.

Clarinet lessons at all levels: from absolute beginners to advanced players.
For me as a teacher it is very important to start from the wishes, needs and competences of the student himself.
You can follow lessons via webcam, or at your home near the Ghent - Kortrijk region.

Today - after completing an extensive selection procedure - Laurens is professionally active as a clarinetist with the Royal Marine Band, one of the prestigious orchestras of the Belgian army.

In addition to his education at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Laurens has had the opportunity to learn several times in a number of masterclasses by, among others, Arno Piters (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Davide Lattuada (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Bart de Karter (New Amsterdam Clarinet Quartet), Pascal Moragues (Orchester de Paris), Ricardo Mataredonna (The La Monnaie Theatre), David Van Maele (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides), Bart Watté (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides) etc.

Both as a freelancer and an active member, Laurens has played in various orchestras, such as the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force, Frascati Symphonic, the Euregio Youth Orchestra, the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, La Chapelle Sauvage, Flanders Young Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Harmony Orchestra...

Since 2021, Laurens has been a member of the Meraki Wind Quintet, with which he has already successfully participated in a number of competitions, including the IMC International Music Competition 2023 (1er Prix à l'unanimité), the Euterpe Music Awards 2022 (gold prize), the Classic Pure Vienna International Music Competition 2022 (special mention), and the Fanny Mendelssohn International Online Competition 2022/23 (second prize).

In addition, Laurens is also active as a conductor, both in a symphonic and harmonic orchestra. He takes conducting lessons with Kristiina Posska (chief conductor of Flanders Symphony Orchestra), Bart Picqueur (composer and conductor) and Dimitri Bracke (conductor) and is active as a permanent conductor with the Fantasietjes in the Muziekvereniging Bellegem and freelance with various other associations.

I’ve been studying classical Piano since I was 9 years old,
At the age of 16 I was accepted in the Exceptional Young Talent program at the Vienna Konservatorium Budapest, after studying for 4 years and finishing the program, I moved to Belgium and I obtained my Bachelor at Royal Conservatory of Ghent and I’m pursuing my career here ever since, I have won International Piano Competitions, I have played solo concerts in Paris, Poland, Budapest, Vienna, Mallorca.
I teach with different methods depending the person’s age, and personality.
