Über mich
My enthusiasm for teaching started at a young age. I was a curious kid who had many personal projects on the go. I even ran an after school Hogwarts program where I led potion making classes from my mum’s bathroom. I loved filling my brain with random facts and had a natural way of explaining them in ways that captured people’s attention. As I grew older, I realized that my enthusiasm for learning was contagious. To share my passion with others, I decided to become an educator.

Throughout my teaching career, I have been on a mission to transform education systems and pedagogical practices with the goal of lending students the competencies they need to survive and thrive in an ever-changing global world. I have never considered myself a ¨teacher¨ but rather a mentor. My goal as an educator has always been to inspire, to guide, to coach, to support, and to care for my students. I strive to create environments where students want to learn rather than have to learn. I want them to own their learning, to be self-directed learners who explore their talents, take risks, think for themselves, and tackle projects of their own.

After a few years as a classroom teacher, I started questioning our education system and my role in it. I loved the energy of the classroom, but I knew I had big ideas and strategies that would allow for more students to be autonomous and have opportunities to explore their curiosities than just those of my classroom.

When the opportunity presented itself, I decided to leave the classroom and become an Instructional Coach. For the last 4 years, I have been on a mission to support teachers in empowering our students to be agents of their learning. I do this by collaborating with educators to design student experiences that are inquiry-based and project based.

Within that time, I chose to uproot my life and move from Canada to Spain with the goal of taking my vision further from home. Before that, I lived in Uganda and had the pleasure of visiting local schools, gaining an understanding of the enduring legacies of inequity in education that colonialism and the Scramble for Africa have left behind. My long term goal is to assist in decolonising education systems in the global south with the objective of providing equitable access to quality education for all children.

I am a native English speaker from Vancouver, Canada and am also fluent in French and have a beginner understanding of Spanish.
I currently work as an Instructional Coach at a local International School here in Barcelona.

In the past, I have taught online adult English classes for Education First and I have also worked with children who are refugees in both Uganda and Canada. My role was a combination of accustoming newcomers to their new country and providing English language learning services.

For the last 5 years, I have worked in the field of GIfted and Talented Education. Three years ago, I left the classroom to pursue my passion for training teachers in innovative and changing pedagogical practices.

Please contact me if you are interested in having a conversation about your needs for you or your child's English language learning journey.
