English Literature is an extremely important and, for many students, compulsory part of education. This class is about improving the skills needed for close, thematic reading of both old and more contemporary texts. Using overarching themes found across literature, as well as giving suggestions for other relevant texts, this class aims not only to help pass any exams, but to also enrich your understanding and appreciation of the subject.

Outside of exams, especially for any adults, this class can be a more freeform discussion of novels or poetry for anyone who wants to enjoy literature on a deeper level but isn't quite sure where to start or what avenues of thought to explore.

I tutor English primarily because I enjoy English and discussing it with other people. Being able to help guide my students towards more complex and nuanced ideas is an extremely rewarding experience.

My aim for multiple lessons is to reach the point where I can disagree with my student on their interpretation, and still have them be able to produce evidence for themselves. While I am always willing to offer guidance and ideas, these lessons are not for students who simply want to parrot someone else's explanations. they are rather for people who want to expand their own abilities and interests.

I have over 4 years of experience in teaching and tutoring English as a second language. I am currently a PhD researcher at King’s College London and run this tutoring business on the side, as I enjoy motivating students to learn new skills and overcome challenges.

I have studied English language and literature for all of my academic life and being multi-lingual (Fluent in Dutch and Sinhala), I understand how difficult it is to learn a language as a complete beginner. I am an empathetic and understanding teacher, but I also know how to push your limits and show you what you are capable of.

I will assign some, flexible homework for out of class, but most of the content will be addressed in the lesson. I am available to teach all levels of English or aid in English literature, but please message me for more information!

Hello everyone,

I am a 22 years old Belgian Female who recently moved in London in order to pursue my law studies. I completed my bachelor at the University College Maastricht in the Netherlands, and have acquired a lot of tutoring experience over the past three years. Indeed, alongside my studies, I have always dedicated some of my time to tutor French/English/Dutch lessons to people of all ages.

My lessons are taught in a way as to encourage my students to live the language they want to learn. I give considerable importance to improving one's verbal abilities, and my lessons are structured as follows:

- Warm-up games (i.e., vocabulary games).
- Verbal Skills: Debate on any topic of the student's interest.
- Writing Skills: Small essays to write at home following the debate (correction during the next class where attention shall be paid to grammar rules, etc.).
- Listening Skills: Analysis and translation of popular songs.

Philosophy follows wisdom. This class will explore a panorama of philosophical texts through the poetic diction of stories and myths. Offering close-readings and lectures from Heraclitus to Shakespeare, Kierkegaard to Ávila, students are invited to engage and formulate new ideas. Personal requests are very welcome in consultation.
