I’m a student pursuing a master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and I've graduated with a bachelor's and master's in industrial engineering from KU Leuven campus groep T with a specialization in electromechanical engineering. As a result of my passion for math and my want to earn a little extra money, I am offering math tuitions. The tuitions are for secondary school students studying any level of math and english is the medium of instruction. Though I am only a university student, I have an adequate understanding of math for the secondary school level. I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Math Higher Level (Math HL) course with the highest possible score – 7/7. Also, I topped my school both with my math score and my overall score.

Apart from teaching topics within math, I know how to score marks – what examiners look for and how they score papers. My classes combine a healthy mix of subject-related teaching and instructions on how to score the maximum possible marks (even if you don’t know the answer!). Since I’m a student my timings are flexible, but please tell me 1 day in advance if you wish to cancel or postpone class.

This course is fitted individually, depending on the needs of the student.

If the student would like to focus on grammar then the material should be sent beforehand so I can have a chance to look at it and prepare for any questions that may arise.

If the student would like to focus on spelling and/or spoken English then no material should be sent beforehand, just an overview of the request.

If the student would like to focus on reading I'll supply the materials depending on their level.

As for math, I only teach high school students and first year University students. The material for the class should be sent to me beforehand so I can be better prepared to answer any questions.

- As for the lessons.
The lessons are about mathematics of secondary education. More specifically, I will assist in the theoretical processing of mathematics as its application (the exercises).
In addition, I will provide additional study material (aids, schedules, ...) if necessary.

- Way of handling.
I would like to have an overview in advance of the study material, the tests or tasks in which certain problems are visible, .... This way I can prepare the lessons in advance and focus on the problem. In addition, I can estimate / determine his / her level in this way.
I try, in a simple way and for the student in an understandable way, to explain the course in a different way so that this is clear to the student. Afterwards I like to enjoy the results.

- Why am I doing this?
Math is a passion of mine and for me there is nothing more fun than sharing my passion. Unfortunately, my love for mathematics is not part of my studies and that is why I like to do this as a hobby and as an extra income. Of course I work professionally.

My name is Arina and I'm a law student. I'm 26 years old and live and rent a room in Leuven.

In secondary school itself, I had a less good experience in the first and second year of secondary school in the subject of mathematics.
I found it a very interesting subject, but I just couldn't grasp it. Throughout those years, I had the same teacher, who didn't teach me the material in a way that was right for me.

After receiving tutoring (forced by my parents), my interest in mathematics grew so much that I studied economics and mathematics for the next few years. My love for mathematics just won't go away...

I am a university researcher and instructor with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.
