I moved to the US a few years ago for professional reasons, it was very difficult to apply everything I had learned in traditional English schools to my everyday life. I quickly realized that the system that schools often use does not reflect the human learning process. As children, we first learn a few words and over time we develop language skills through mistakes and a fearless approach to the language. It is only later, at school, that our communication skills are refined. So why should we memorize the correct tenses and sentence constructions right from the start if we can not express ourselves yet? When we learn a new language, we often spend a lot of time constructing the perfect sentence in our head instead of speaking it.

Teaching Spanish through conversation has proven to be very rewarding in the past. Not only because I could see that what helped me could also help many others, but also because it was very rewarding to see people enjoy not being afraid to communicate, make mistakes, and develop their learning potential.

Opleiding

I hold a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from UMass Dartmouth and have also pursued studies at IEFC in Barcelona. My time studying in Barcelona greatly enriched my knowledge and skills, as well as broadened my global perspective. The interdisciplinary education I received at UMass Dartmouth, coupled with various personal and professional development opportunities, has given me the confidence to take on complex challenges. Additionally, my exposure to different cultures has fostered a strong sense of inclusive collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

I have been an Arts and Spanish teacher for five years.
Creating a positive learning environment is my priority, where students feel valued and motivated. Through various art forms, I encourage individuality and emphasize collaboration. My goal is to empower students to unlock their communication potential. Witnessing their growth brings me joy and fulfillment.
