Hello! My name is Pelagia, and I currently live in Amsterdam, though I am originally from Athens, Greece.

I specialise in English (British & American) tuition for native and non-native speakers of all ages, and have experience working with:

• primary- and secondary-school students studying the English language and its literatures

I have two degrees in English language and literature (B.A. and Mst) from the University of Oxford, and I am also a graduate of the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma program. Have you dreamt of reading Shakespeare and making sense of his words ? Did you know that some Shakespearian plays are easier to tackle than others ? In this class we will be looking at one of Shakespeare's fantasy comedies or one of his tragedies. We will read the play together and discuss the usage of words, as well as its historical contexts. We will study the most important passages in the way they have influenced world culture. I encourage my students to memorise these passages by heart, a gratifying experience.

In het dagelijks leven ben ik leerkracht Nederlands voor anderstalige volwassenen. Ik heb ook jarenlang ervaring met het aanleren van Frans.
Voorts geef ik nog theorie lessen voor het behalen van rijbewijs B.

De lessen worden op maat gegeven. Ik geef zowel bijles voor leerlingen secundair, als taallessen aan volwassenen die een examen bij Selor willen afleggen.
De lessen kunnen bij mij thuis of via internet doorgaan.

Hi,

Ik heb ruime ervaring met het geven van bijles en het begeleiden van leerlingen bij verschillende organisaties. In de afgelopen jaren heb ik gewerkt met leerlingen van uiteenlopende niveaus, waarbij ik heb gemerkt dat ik veel energie haal uit het uitleggen van lesstof en het vergroten van zelfvertrouwen bij leerlingen.

Mijn interesse en passie liggen vooral bij de vakken geschiedenis, aardrijkskunde en maatschappijleer/burgerschap. Ik vind het belangrijk om deze vakken niet alleen inhoudelijk duidelijk uit te leggen, maar ook te laten zien hoe ze aansluiten bij de actualiteit en de belevingswereld van leerlingen. Daarbij besteed ik veel aandacht aan structuur, overzicht en het aanleren van effectieve leerstrategieën.

Op dit moment volg ik de master Bestuurskunde aan de Universiteit Leiden. Deze opleiding sluit goed aan bij mijn interesse in politiek, bestuur en maatschappelijke vraagstukken en versterkt mijn vakinhoudelijke kennis, die ik ook inzet tijdens mijn bijlessen.

Mijn manier van begeleiden is rustig, geduldig en persoonlijk. Ik neem de tijd om te achterhalen waar een leerling tegenaan loopt en pas mijn uitleg daarop aan. Het doel is niet alleen betere resultaten, maar ook meer zelfvertrouwen en motivatie.

Ik kan goed ondersteunen en bijles geven, maar ben niet persee gespecialiseerd in de schoolvakken. Maar met het goed doornemen van het schoolwerk, slaag ik er altijd wel in om de leerling te voorzien van goede ondersteuning met goede resultaten.

Op de basis- en midelbare school had ik veel vriendinnen om mij heen die moeite hadden met specifieke vakken, waar ik geen moeite mee had. Ook kwam dit andersom voor. Het fijne was om elkaar dan te kunnen helpen hiermee. Wanneer dit niet kon kregen wij bijles van een fijne coach en dit hielp ons stuk voor stuk ons examen halen.

School kan frusterend, overwhelmend en veel zijn. Als jet de juiste persoon heb die je hiermee kan helpen en guidence kan geven, scheelt dit veel stress. Buiten bijles geven ben ik ook Student Psychologie en zou ik kunnen helpen met plannen, faalangst, ADD/ADHD etc.
