Ik geef les aan beginners en gevorderden. Pop, jazz, blues, klassiek, zowel elektrisch als akoestisch. Ik werk vanuit wat jíj wilt leren. Met of zonder noten lezen en/of akkoordgrepen. Er is veel ruimte voor de eigen inbreng van de leerling, wat vaak stimulerend werkt!
Tijdens de les maken we regelmatig opnamen zodat je thuis verder kan oefenen.
Veel van mijn leerlingen spelen al jarenlang met veel plezier, alleen of in bands, een aantal ging verder aan het conservatorium of een popacademie.

My name is Karel. I am an enthusiastic guitar teacher with 25 years of experience in teaching guitar and ukuleles.

I teach beginners and advanced students. Pop, jazz, blues, classical, both electric and acoustic. I work based on what you want to learn. With or without reading notes and/or chords. There is plenty of room for the student's own input, which is often stimulating!
We regularly make recordings during the lesson so that you can continue practicing at home.
Many of my students have enjoyed playing for years, alone or in bands, and some continued at the conservatory or a pop academy.

Las clases están destinadas a niño/as, adolescentes y adultos, y son personalizadas con material incluido. Se puede comenzar desde un nivel inicial o intermedio. Además de la parte práctica, también se trabaja en conjunto con la teoría y lo auditivo.

Soy músico profesional y llevo más de 20 años impartiendo clases a alumnos de todas las edades. Mi experiencia como profesor y la búsqueda de auto superarme como músico, me han llevado a desarrollar un método eficaz que ya he probado con más de un centenar de alumnos.
A lo largo de mi carrera tuve la satisfacción de estudiar con grandes maestros de diferentes especialidades o estilos, cada uno enfatizaba en diferentes aspectos del flamencos, guitarra clásica o moderna y cada uno me ha dado su enfoque (técnica, ritmos, acompañamiento, armonía, etc.), lo que me ha llevado después de años de estudio y recopilación a sacar lo mejor de cada uno para conseguir desarrollar mi método.

Mi papel en mis clases más que de profesor es casi de entrenador personal, donde estará súper atento a sacar lo mejor de mis alumnos, buscar la técnica adecuada que ayude a tener soniquete, trabajar el ritmo, etc.
Para mi el papel de un profesor además de ensañar, es ser parte de un equipo de trabajo, para mantener la moral y auto superarse constantemente manteniendo siempre el amor por la música.

Metodología:
Las clases las oriento según el nivel, estilo o búsqueda del alumno/a, por lo general la primera mitad de la clase la dedicamos a estudiar la técnica, donde estará atento a la correcta colocación, ejecución, relajación que como resultado nos dará buen sonido, y sobre todo con el tiempo me di cuenta que también es una manera de conectar con la guitarra para concentrarse además de calentar. Así que poco a poco iremos escribiendo nuestra rutina donde ya estaremos trabajando aspectos básicos rítmicos.
La segunda mitad nos dedicamos a tocar tratando de poner en práctica lo que aprendimos de la técnica con los palos o estudiar otras inquietudes del alumno que puede ser algún tema, armonía, falsetas, improvisación, o incluso otros estilos, etc. siempre obviamente teniendo en cuenta la búsqueda o interés del alumno/a.

My guitar classes are shaped around you—your musical taste, your goals, and the way you learn best.

Whether you’re into rock, metal, pop, blues, or anything in between, we’ll use the music you love as the foundation of your progress. I blend technique with practical music theory so everything makes sense on the fretboard.
Along the way, we’ll explore triads and tetrads, pentatonic scales and modes, chord and arpeggio shapes, harmonic fields, the circle of fifths, and core techniques like tapping, sweep, alternate, and economy picking—always in a clear, musical, and approachable way.

I’ve been a guitarist since 1998 and studied Popular Guitar at FAAM and Music Pedagogy at UFSCAR in Brazil. In 2025, I graduated with First Class Honours from the University of West London.
Alongside teaching, I’ve always been active as a composer, recording artist, and performing guitarist in numerous bands. Since 2016, I’ve owned and composed for Arken, a heavy metal band with three albums released.

The main outcome of my classes is to help you truly own the instrument—playing comfortably, confidently, and improvise musically. From there, you’ll be able to learn and play any songs you want, and even create your own music if that’s your goal.
Beginners and advanced players are equally welcome. No matter your style or experience, I’m confident I can guide you toward the skills you need to play with confidence and enjoyment.

· The Four Essential Strokes: Rasgueado (strumming variations), Picado (scale runs), Arpeggio, and Alzapúa (thumb technique).
· Compás (Rhythm): Understanding the rhythmic cycles of Soleá, Bulerías, Tangos, Fandangos and many more. You will learn to feel the beat, not just count it.
· Falsetas: Short, pre-composed solo phrases. We break them down phrase by phrase, then learn to link them together.
· Accompaniment: Introduction to accompanying flamenco cante (singing) and baile (dance) – chord progressions, capo placement, and staying locked in with the singer.

3.⁠ ⁠Music Theory Applied to the Fretboard

· Harmonic analysis of the music you are playing.
· The difference between major/minor and the Andalusian cadence (Phrygian mode).

4. Creative Exploration
