Looking for an experienced private drum teacher? I teach drums one-on-one in Leiden on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I strive to keep my lessons as effective and enjoyable as possible. During the lessons we focus on different rhythms, fills, drum techniques, music notation and how to practice and be creative. Of course we also play songs and you are welcome to suggest songs you'd like to learn yourself. Once you've mastered a song we'll make an audio recording for yourself to reflect on and to share with others.

Throughout the years that I've been giving drum lessons I have developed my own method. Teaching is building bridges between the known and the unknown. Small steps in a logical order. I'm fascinated by how the brain works and how learning happens at its best. This by itself can be a great boost in seeing one's own potential and also a great motivation to practice like crazy!
Yet I'm a relaxed and very patient teacher, striving to make your lessons a thing to look forward to every time.

1993-1999 Atheneum at Rembrandt SG in Leiden.
1994-2000 I've been following private drum lessons at the Streekmuziekschool in Leiden by Cees van Egmond.
2000-onward autodidact

Lesson is given on location or at home (if you have a drum kit), and your first lesson is always free, because you have to be able to determine if you like drumming and you want me as a teacher.

Drum lessons (giving) is always fun and educational. You learn in addition to technique (the correct (sitting) posture, stick control and the 'rudiments' basic patterns such as the familiar 'roffel' (double-stroke-roll) and the 'paradiddle' - also the importance of counting, dynamics, reading notes and timing After all, you will all need them if you want to continue (with a band or just for yourself).

- How long does it take before I become a drummer?
Two answers: a few hours, and a lifetime. You will see that you can play nice things in no time, but also that top drummers in the world, such as Phil Collins, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Dave Lombardo or Simon Phillips, learn new things every day (and happy).

- Am I too old to start?
You're never too old,
- Do I have a sense of rhythm?
You can learn rhythm feeling. I have NOT been able to teach anyone. - Is there a best drummer in the world?
It is about fun, and there is no podium or medal, only thousands of colleagues who are doing very well.
- Is drumming only something for men?
I do not think so! Take a look at Sheila E. or Cindy Blackman;)

I have been giving lessons for the last 12 years, my main objective is to make you happy with your playing, a journey into the world of drums.

We can play any genre, be it rock, punk, hard core, jazz, pop, electronic. Let's make your own technical routine and keep it updated all the time.

If you are also interested in writing your own songs, that won't be a problem either, I'll give you the best key tips for you to write or improve your music composition.

Are you making electronic music but you feel you are stuck on the same beats over and over? That will be another problem solved! we can work on making cool beats for your songs!

Apart from teaching the most amazing latin rhythms, In my lessons I apply the stick control book, to achieve a good technique, and at the same time I teach coordination and grooves, with the best methods and books from the most qualified drummers.

I'm a professional drummer from Spain, but living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I have studied Latin drums at Codarts, university of the arts, in Rotterdam, so I've acquired a lot of knowledge and skills on Cuban and Brazilian music, jazz, funk and Pop.

I've performed in places such as:
North Sea Jazz Festival, Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht), Jazzcafe Dizzy, etc...

Lesson for beginners intermediate persons. Skills, techniques and different rhythms are discussed.
Because someone at KGM D&P can expect:
Reading notes
• Drum notes
• Recognize notes
• Read notes in tempo
• “The art” of reading while you play
Independence/independency:
• Independence of the hands
• Independence of the feet
• Independence of the hands and feet
Rudiments:
• 40 different rudiments
• Build creativity. So play these rudiments on different drum part.
• Create a new groove and then play
• Apply different rudiments while playing. For example while drumming
Learn to listen:
• Identify a song's intro and outro
• puzzle out the song: how many verses a song has, where the bridge is, etc.
• Learning to count during a song so you can know where you are. (You should be able to play your drum part without the help of music)

Hi there! I'm Guillermo, Spanish Drummer based in The Hague and a teacher of drums and cajón for all ages and levels.
I like to put a strong focus on helping my students to become the musicians they want to be, whether that means playing along to their favourite songs at home, going on tour around the world or recording music in studios! In order to achieve this I like to make sure the lessons have a good balance between fun personal musical challenges and the various techniques (and bits of theory if needed) that will help you enjoy the most your time behind the drums (or siting on yout cajón!)

In class we will work mostly around what the student is looking for, weather that’s just being able to jam along to their favorite tunes or to get good enough to make a living out of drumming. We can work on a variety of different genres from jazz to pop to latin, which ever the student is keen on learning about. I will always look to keep the lessons balanced between music and methodical exercises. Main goal is for everyone to have a good time and leave the classes with a smile on their face :)
