LEARN A LEVEL ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AND ACE YOUR EXAMS

By the end of this lesson, students will understand the basic concepts of organic chemistry, including the structure of organic molecules, types of bonds, and the significance of functional groups.
I begin the lesson by explaining what organic chemistry is and why it is important. Highlight the role of organic compounds in everyday life, such as in food, medicine, and plastics. Explain why carbon is the backbone of organic chemistry, focusing on its ability to form four covalent bonds and create complex, stable structures like chains, rings, and branches. I will introduce simple hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes, and benzene rings) and their general formulas. Highlight the concept of saturation and unsaturation. I am very passionate about science and in particular, Chemistry and Biology. I have been tutoring for 15 years and have an excellent knowledge of current specifications. I have a wealth of experience in teaching years 9-12 through my work at Liverpool John Moores university, as a Student Advocate and various schools. I have excellent knowledge of the current curriculum so you can be assured that the topics you are studying are relevant. I now tutor full time and pride myself on having a good sense of humour which I believe is essential to enjoying the subject of science.
My aim is to help you to expand practical, problem solving and enquiry skills enabling you to develop a critical approach to scientific evidence and methods in line with programme of study for the national curriculum. I will also help you to gain the knowledge and understanding of how chemistry and biology are important within the field of science and its role in society.
