We will learn the basic start of English language learning through Phonics using the Read Write Inc. Resources Phonics Play and Alpha Bloks. Students will learn to say the name if the letter followed by the sound using fun ways to learn and engage the student.
We will learn to form the letters and work on good pencil control using air movements and games.
We will learn the sounds through songs and rhyme and learn the alphabet through songs and rhyme.
This class is ideal for children who are at the beginning of their language learning and will lead into reading at a basic level with understanding.

I'm Shaheen from the UK and currently teaching in Shanghai in China. I have taught in Abu Dhabi and the UK. I have extensive International experience teaching non native speakers of Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian, Czech, Russian, French, Dutch, Swedish and many more nationalities. I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student. In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English.

I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you.

I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere.

Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.

I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.

I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels.

The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.

I speak English well, and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.
