Hello, I am Jai, and I have graduated from an American middle school and high school. I am interested in helping middle school, high school, or university students with their essay-writing and reading comprehension skills. The tutor sessions will vary, depending on your goals, motivations, and needs. For instance, if you have a school assignment, we can review your work and go over your strengths and weaknesses; if you want to improve your overall English, we can structure the session as if it were an English high school class (since that is what I am most familiar with). However, since learning a language requires one to read, write, listen, and speak the language, the session will inevitably touch upon these adjacent skills.
The areas I am most experienced with tutoring are: schoolwork, standardized English-language exams (e.g., TOEFL, SAT, AP English Literature and Composition), and proofreading university-level academic writing.

Hello, I'm Jai, and I would consider English and Korean my native language. I graduated middle and high school in the United States, and I have a Bachelor of Sciences (BSc) in Social Sciences from Amsterdam University College. During my undergraduate studies, for two years, I was an editor for the social sciences in InPrint, a student-led academic journal. As an editor, I was responsible for revising and editing bachelor theses so that they may be published. Since high school, I have tutored English (for beginners), and I enjoy teaching English because I think the language is beautiful. (It's also a great privilege to be fluent in this language--thank you Mom and Dad!)
Something I enjoy most when teaching writing is that everyone has an idea or an opinion; however, students often have difficulty translating those ideas onto paper. I find it both challenging and fun to be with the student as they are formulating their arguments and learning to put those ideas in coherent order (i.e., writing the essay). I also enjoy reading a passage with the student and hearing their reactions to the text. It's always fascinating how people react differently to the same passage (although it's my job to make sure they don't gloss over some key points in the text)!

During my studies in Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam (graduated in 2015, MSc.) and in addition to my job as a consultant, I have always taught mathematics and statistics to secondary school students and university students (HBO and WO) with great pleasure. Since 2017 I have assisted students from different study backgrounds (from civil engineering to psychology) with writing their thesis and since 2022 I work parttime as a math teacher and educational advisor in the Emma Children's Hospital in Amsterdam and I teach private students.

After a turbulent career in the media, marketing and mental health care, I am now back to my roots in education.

What does a lesson from me look like? Well, that is always a surprise and never boring! My starting point is coaching, so I always work on a good relationship and developing or strengthening confidence in my own capacities, or Empowerment. Everything else comes after that. A lesson of mine is otherwise varied, with relatively short, but very intensive learning moments, and in between small breaks with some distraction.

This could be a conversation about something else, or a joke, or an anecdote, so that you get the best out of your concentration and the material remains manageable. I also often work with music, or poems, or paintings that are related to the subject matter, then it sticks better and it is just great fun. I am very inventive and original, so with me you are drawn into an adventure every lesson!

Hello everyone! I hold a doctorate in Italian, have been teaching Italian for 5 years and hold a CELTA teaching qualification. I've been preparing students for the A-Levels and GCSE (language + literature). I can prepare you for specific examinations, language lessons in general or teach you Italian for business. The lessons are for everyone, whatever their age or level (children to adults). I will make sure that you discover the Italian culture through the lessons, learn the correct pronunciation and of course learn some grammar. I am open to your needs and can speak a few languages to make sure you understand fully the lessons (of course, we’ll try to use mostly Italian in all our lessons depending on your level).

These classes aim at people who want to develop their Portugueses skills, both from scratch with some previous knowledge. The pedagogical structure is adaptable to the situation; school-aged children with Portuguese parent(s) who don't always have the time and opportunity to teach them, adults who need practical advice and relatively quick skill training because of a Portuguese-speaking partner, friend, traveling, etc...
Students are always encouraged to develop their interest in the Portuguese language.

Hey! My name is Yasmin, I was born in Denmark, mainly raised in the Netherlands, but moved more than 14 times to different countries and cities. I have always attended an international school and received my Bachelor's degree in English & Pre-Law from the University of California Santa Barbara last summer. I have decided to continue my studies and am currently studying international & European law.
I provide English tutoring where we can focus together on whatever you need, such as: writing, speaking, writing essays and creative writing. I can also help with homework or help with public speaking and giving presentations in English, of course. It is important to me that you receive enough help so that you can continue with full self-confidence.
